The matchmaking when you unlock a new champion sucks

So I unlock a new champion and take them to teambuilder and of course I supposedly get the adjustment

Rather than giving me a stronger team to compensate, it clearly seems to just match me with all players below my elo, which doesn't actually help me in any way. I would prefer to simply have no adjustment because this is horrible, I am literally in a situation where playing ranked would be easier than playing this champ in normals.

I would honestly be happier not having this at all.

How is that fair to the 4 other players on your team that they have been fitted with a "first time x" that, under your system, is actually below their ELO to boot because they are expected to compensate for you?

You are the one trying out "first time x," you should be the one who gets the penalty. If you play the champ enough, the game will remove the matchmaking adjustment eventually and return you to your true ELO games anyway.

If it's for the benefit of my teammates I really do accept this, but the system should not pretend this is for my benefit when it clearly isn't.

It matches people you are against.

Is the team builder adjustment for playing a new champ, or playing a new champion type? I was under the impression that it was tied to the type (e.g. tank, marksman, support, etc).

Nothing matchmaking changes when you buy a new champion. Teambuilder and normal matches don't even work by ELO. Learn how to play your champion.
