Why do you lose so much LP if you fail a series?

I think it’s ridiculous. Went 1-2 in my promos, thanks to a stupid Veigar who fed his ass off to Katarina, and ended with 67 LP after.

Next game: enemy Lux and Ashe get fed.

Lose 20 LP thanks to that. Now at fucking 47.

So stupid.

EDIT: Just lost the next fucking game. Now down to 30. This has been happening for the past few weeks. Win one, lose more than double that. Get promoted, then demoted. STOP THIS SHIT RIOT. I'M DONE WITH THIS FUCKING BAD LUCK!

EDIT 2: Just lost another fucking game after that. FOUR STRAIGHT LOSSES SINCE PROMOS. 13 LP. FUCK THIS SHIT.

I truly think Riot does some modifications to their K factor to have more dramatic MMR changes then compensates by using Promotions and Tier system to prevent accounts for moving around the ladder excessively rapid of a rate.

Basically I think in order to lower the # of matches required they have set their MMR system to be more rubber bandy for accounts with lower # of games so what happens is they move quickly into the correct range of skill, after which they start lowering MMR changes and you see the mm slow down and dial in on more accurate ranges. To change MMR gains you slowdown K factor MMR multiplication, could be off win rate in relation to your current tier, could be off # of games, hell could be like in chess where its off what Tier your in. 100% a stab in the dark on my end.

It seems counterintuitive but I think its a result of them trying to lower the overall # of games to get a range then any attempt to force players to do more matches. Simply having a smaller MMR change and smaller LP gains would be a consistent and universal way to pad out games with out creating as much player frustration.

A failed series might consist of 2 losses or 1 win 2 losses. In both cases you lose two games, causing you to lose the LP you would have lost in two games.

Because it literally doesn't matter, stop worrying about your LP in the short term when MMR is all that matters in the long term.

It was better when it was always at 75 LP after a promo lose.
