This Will Help You Climb Solo Queue

Mr Carbon··20 votes·2,586 views

Focus on your own game play and champion mastery before you blame somebody else for losing, feeding, not making a play ect.

Playing in Solo Queue has become a baby sitting service rather than an actual video game that I enjoy. Why should players who are trying to actively improve need to calm others down or tell someone to mute another player...

People who complain are worthless... If you chose to complain about your Elo, but don't have the discipline to improve yourself then you don't deserve to climb.

Take responsibility for your game play. Are you going to lose games? OFC... But don't Bitch and moan about your loss and blame other people for it.

Instead, look back and think what you could have done to carry the game harder than you did.

End Rant...

Note: Some of you are going to rage, get offended, and continue to blame your team or trolls for why you can't climb after reading this. Some of you however, are going to read this and its finally going to click... Just be better and don't suck and you will climb. So practice.

Elo hell isn't real. Yes, players will cost you games. No, they won't cost you an elo.

i agree on the last 2 counts but i high disagree on the first one..

elo hell IS real, but it isnt a specific place like "bronze or silver"

for example if you are a plat player you are going to be able to solo carry bronze and silver regardless of what teammates you get. maybe not EVERY game.. but enough to climb out pretty fast

elo hell is the area where you are at a elo lower than you belong but you have climbed high enough to face oppoents that are good enough to prevent you from "hard carrying" your team

for a diamond 3 player elo hell might start at around plat 3 or 4

for a gold 1 player it might start at silver 1 or 2

if you are in bronze and u cant climb out of bronze.. you ARE bronze. end of story.

but if you are actually silver 4 even though you CAN climb out of bronze and you eventually will it is going to be elo hell

granted this whole thing goes out the window with dynamic que where we have bronze and silver players in EVERY elo so for season 6 every elo is "elo hell".

but back when ranked actually MEANT something, this is what elo hell was

Mr Carbon1 votes

I would have to disagree, If you are consistently winning your lane, even if you aren't "hard carrying" you should be helping your team win the game. Which means that you will win more games than you lose. Which then means you will climb whether fast or slow you are still climbing.

If you stop climbing... or start losing in lane more often than not or roughly 50-60% of the time. You belong there.

Edit: Elo hell is the epitome of not accepting responsibility for your climb

yes you will win more than you lose and u WILL still climb slowly. but the point in the games you DO lose now are mostly becuase you got a bad team. and whether or not you "win" or "lose" now is no longer mostly a factor of how well YOU did. but not mostly a factor of how well your TEAMMATES did.

for example. if you play at a high plat lvl and you are in bronze. chances are they have 5 bronze players and you have 4 bronze players.

welll it really doesn't matter how you team does really your skill is so much higher that the outcome of the game pretty much is decided based on how well YOU do... so whether or you win or lose might be 95% you can 5% your teammates

but as you rank up and get closer to your elo.. your opponents are getting better, so even though you might be able to 1v5 bronze players even if they are fed and your also fed.. in silver you might only be able to 1v4 in gold you might only be able to 1v2 or 2v3, and once you reach high gold and low plat. you can easily win lane but you still require you team to not FEED your opponents

so maybe in silver you control the outcome of you game at 70% in gold maybe 40%

but the closer you get to your actual skill lvl, the less YOUR skills matter and the more the skills of your teammates matter. becuase in all games YOU are the constant.

elo hell is the point where you CAN climb, you CAN win lane. but whether you do win or lose now is mostly based on the team you get. wether or not you win your match now has very little to do with how well YOU did, and is now mostly determine by how well your TEAMMTES did and THAT makes it elo hell. becuase even though you win more than you lose.. WHETHER or not you win or lose really depends on your team. and becuase you CAN'T control who you get matched with. you now get the feeling of, "i really dont have any control over the outcome of the game" which of course you do, you still need to do good. but when you DO do good. if you win or not is no longer decided by you. it makes you feel "powerless" to affect the outcome. and that's what makes it "elo hell"

the feeling of "now matter how well i do i can't change the outcome of the game"

ehhhh, your interpretation of the term is much different than the communities idea of the term.

Which is where our disagreement is I believe.

Elo Hell is highly regarded as the place in time where you can't climb and are stuck.

If you are climbing, slow or fast, you aren't in Elo Hell.

Like I said though, I think that stems from our initial assumption of what the term means. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

I guess you could sum that up as "always carrying but never being carried". Can't say I disagree with that. Funny thing is, I feel my normals are like that now. Somehow my normal games are a lot harder and unforgiving than my ranked games.

Meanwhile I have the opposite feeling, where I get all the boosted monkeys in my ranked games and legit non-feeding teammates in my normal games.

It means the few games you lose because of teammates won't be enough to get cost you an elo.

I am just ready for this season to be over. Was starting to get an idea in my head last week when I was gold 2 like "well maybe I can reach plat!". Now after a few rough days and dropping over 2% in win percentage its more like "please just let me sign my name by gold 3 before I get demoted".

Looking forward to trying to climb back to gold surrounded by all my fellow boosted animals next season.

My advise would be to play less and focus on specific parts of your game play each game without worrying about the ladder.

Play 5 games straight... not worried about anything besides hitting every single minion in your lane... Then play the next 5 games... worried about shoving a wave then roaming (if you are mid/top like me) ect. Next 5 focus on nothing but aggressive and defensive warding

Slowly but surely you will become second nature at certain parts of the game, and it will result in better individual play, which helps your team.

Dukues3 votes

hey thanks I like that idea. Its so much easier just to focus on 1 or 2 things each game rather than literally everything.

Mr Carbon1 votes

For sure, what lane do you main?

Dukues2 votes

jung/adc. Been playing a lot of adc lately since I was duoing with a friend. My mechanics such shit though I feel like I should probably stop playing it.

I enjoy jungle but after ranking up started to get really paranoid while playing it. Started getting invaded more and allies were dying earlier to ganks from enemy jungler quicker and being counter jungled more often. Learned the role playing through silver on an alt and got used to being ahead of the enemy jungler. Going from the abuser to the abused really shook my confidence and I stopped playing jungle for awhile. I know I have more learning to do in the role but feel I probably have a better shot of improving quicker at playing jungle rather than adc, although I do enjoy adc especially when duoing with a friend.

Romtheguy1 votes

This. I get scared when I play jungle with Sejuani. Sure she can teamfight greatly, but no sustain and a "invade me" sign taped to her back makes her a target early game. Especially with that godforsaken cheeky monk invading my jg, making me start blue, and ganking entirely instead of farming gah

Im just happy with gold. I have over 1500 games ranked games and a 51% win rate. Due to trying out all the roles. I've done really bad this season. Next season im going for Diamond. Hopefully :D

oh wow after reading this post I suddenly gained the ability to climb 5 divisons. said no one ever.

Mr Carbon3 votes

Wouldn't expect a comment any less ignorant from a Gold 5 who will never climb.

Dracocrash3 votes

lul, you feel high and mighty just because you have a better rank than me?

Also your statement is extremely flawed, since you have assumed I will "never climb", considering I eventually will, just taking a break from ranked because I know im at my limit for this season.

2nd- How is my comment ignorant? please elaborate.

3rd- Please dont think you are some sort of "savior" just because you posted some obvious facts, nobody is going to read this post and "click", either they were already in agreement and are climbing/ cant climb for other reasons or they will disagree and continue to do what they were doing.

All i see is shameless repeating of obvious facts for upvote farming and attention.

Mr Carbon3 votes

If you actually were to read down the comments. I explained my position in the game, and that I really don't have the mechanical ability to improve that much more in the game. (Though, I can always improve something)

That I accept that I am peeking, and will eventually stall out without the natural talent of a challenger/master player.

With the outlook that high plat is a relatively good spot for my skill set, I feel like people could use help who are struggling.

Your attitude clearly shows that you are "too good" for this kind of simple information. It means that your "climb" will be slow and more than likely toxic, blaming others for being in a terrible Elo.

The fact that you felt compelled to come and comment on my post negatively simply for helping people like you stuck in bronze, silver, and gold, shows your immaturity and blatant disregard for player improvement.

If they were as obvious as you're implying then everyone would put them into practice. The simple fact remains that players like you read them... Ignore them... and complain that they don't improve.

Misery will always love company, but I sincerely hope that one day this clicks and you do reach Diamond + and you get better. Because the simply fact is that I want everybody to achieve their goals of being better in League of Legends or w/e they want in life.

But you never will unless you give up the pride and entitlement you hold on to. Take some advice from somebody that has been there, done that, got the T-shirt like I did a long time ago and am still doing.

You might reply with some kind of toxic, hateful comment of how I'm above it all, but in reality you just still don't get it.

Or... You can take the advice, realize you can improve your game, and stop hating on everybody that's trying to help you get better.

Thanks, have a great day! [slayer-jinx-catface]

Is it wrong to be prideful?

And FYI, I never blame my team and while I might be feeling certain emotions from inside, I never type it out in chat.. Because I know flaming my team will only tilt them and reduce my chance of winning.

And I get it, I know I have to improve but if improving were that easy everyone would be sitting in diamond. But thats not how it is, only the top 3% of players can be plat and an even smaller percentage are diamond because they are special.

I know unless I change myself as a person I will NEVER get plat, I am impulsive, I make bad rough decisions. Sometimes I understand im being impulsive and hold myself back, but I end up holding myself back to such an extent that I'm actually not taking opportunities I should be taking to win a game. I know for a fact, that is my limiting factor and I can never go beyond it no matter how hard I try, no matter how much I "improve myself" this will always be there stopping me from winning games.

That is partly why your post made me sad/mad, many of us are not stuck because we blame our team but because of self limitations that are simply too hard to cross. After playing for 2.5 years and over 8 months of trying to fix my problem it simply isn't happening.

And I guess, sorry for being rude earlier. But I stand by my point.

I've been implementing this into my climbing. I often see the mechanical/gameplay mistakes I make throughout a game and use them to improve my play. I am currently Gold 5 after being in Silver since season 4 (unless you count getting gold in preseason 6 before the reset).

Mr Carbon2 votes

I would say aim for Plat at minimum.

I'm not a very mechanically capable gamer, which limits how far I will be able to climb. However, I've been in High Plat for 3 seasons now.

I rely on game knowledge and champion mastery to help me climb. I will probably peak at Mid Diamond.

With that being said, if I can do it... anybody can. [slayer-jinx-wink]

I think my gameplay will need a lot more work if I'm gonna get to plat. Also, my laning phase is garbage and my champion pool for the most part relies on getting to late game.

3 seasons and still plat? hows climbing again?

I've written multiple replies about this topic , so I'll copy paste. But just for humors sake, 1500 games and still Gold 4? How's that climb coming?
