Runaan's Hurricane New ADC Meta? Why?

Almost EVERY ADC I've played with or against lately has built this item. It's only been really noticeable in the past week or so, but it's confusing me. Prior to this last week, rarely if ever would I see an ADC with Runaan's Hurricane. What happened that suddenly this little sucker is almost literally everywhere?

Edit: I'm not asking what it does, or why it's good. I'm asking why it suddenly appeared in nearly every game I play lately when it hadn't before.

Pre-season usually has people experimenting alot, that might be it, but beyond that I can't really think of any change to the ADC meta that might warrant a sudden increase in its usage.

For Summoner's Rift I don't see it being viable on anyone but Kalista.

Kalista can utilize it because of her jumps allowing her to quickly get in range to use the effect of the weapon then keep hopping around to avoid damage.

All other ADC's have to walk inside of their normal AA range to even use the effect, putting them in a terrible spot for team fight.

Twitch and Teemo are the only others that come to mind for actually using Runaan's.

It's best in slot for Kalista. Can't say the same for other ADC's, because they only just now nerfed infinity edge.

I don't see any ADCs with Runaans in your recent match history.

I said the past week. I doubt you looked at all of them, because it's been around a lot.

Edit: The game before the Orianna game I just played where I was Diana on ARAM had one. You didn't look that well.

Uh, no. You apparently didn't look that well. Like I edited, the Diana game before the Orianna game I JUST played had a Graves with one.

That's an ARAM match...it doesn't affect the meta. It actually makes sense in ARAM to build Runaans. Marksmen on the rift without on hit effects do not build Runaans. End story.

That's an ARAM match...it has a different meta. It actually makes sense in ARAM to build Runaans.

That's not my point, I said why is it suddenly everywhere when it hasn't been prior to this last week or so. Please tell me you read the original post.

It's not everywhere, it's in ARAM. You're seeing it so much because you're playing ARAM, where it has always made (a little) sense to build it. It's not a new thing. You're welcome for solving that mystery.

It's not everywhere, it's in ARAM. You're seeing it so much because you're playing ARAM, where it has always made (a little) sense to build it. You're welcome for solving that mystery.

Except you didn't solve anything. Before now I rarely saw it built there either. And now it is. I've played ARAM just as much as I've played Rift since I started, and I've never seen it this much until this last week.

To be fair, I spend days spectating games for hours on end sometimes, from Bronze to Diamond which I'll admit is a relatively small sample out of the huge playerbase but I haven't really seen this sudden surge in its popularity bar the occasional Kalista.

Well I've been playing more ARAM lately in the preseason and seen it there which is why I'm getting so much hate on this topic. But even there, I rarely saw it built until this last week or so.

Probably should've mentioned it was ARAM then, since Runaan's is acceptable there and wouldn't raise alot of eyebrows.

Everyone's just missing my question, though. Even if I worded it wrong.

Good on ARAM or not, I had hardly ever seen it built until this past week and I don't get why the sudden increase of the item is showing up.

I think what everyone means to tell you by it being acceptable on ARAM is that it isn't really a new thing there.

Graves is free this week. his cooldown reduction on enemy hit has synergy with runaan's. ashe and caitlyn also tend to build it in ARAM because of permaslow and headshot respectively

item 3085 is the ultimate lane-pushing item. And when you combine it with some dragon stacks and even a baron buff, then it is GG.

Thing is, when I say everywhere, I mean everywhere. I've seen it ARAM, I've seen it Dominion, and of course I've seen it Rift. If it's a lane pushing item it has no real use on Crystal Scar, and on ARAM there are no dragon stacks or baron buff to put with it.

In ARAM it's incredibly convenient because you can proc effects on multiple champions quite easily since there's 5 in one lane. Also, minions are few and far between in ARAM, and this helps carries get more of them.

its mostly because the kalista build i think people are starting to realize its strong for utility and that it applies on hit effects, like BoRK, took em long enough lol. not to mention the extra dps u can crunch out with it on some champs in team fights with the bonus 50% damage to up to two other opponents.

Only good on Kallista. Maybe on Jinx, maybe on Varus, probably not.

The only people I see it being good on is Graves Jinx Kalista Varus

Graves because 2-3 basic attacks resets his E cool down Kalista for the E spread Jinx for the instant 120% attack speed and even more damage with Fishbones Varus for spreading Blight

Also, has anyone tested if Lucian's dash cool down reduction with his passive applies on bonus Runnan's shots?

I've been using it a lot on jinx since jinx release really, because her Q rockets can activate runnan passive without additional mana cost AND the runnan passive rockets also deal splashdamage, that combined with ie + statikk created a huge AoE burst if my AA crits.

While for the rise of runnan on other adc's i really find no reason with the exception that pro's just learned that bloodthirster heals works with runnan passive and people just mindlessly copy pro's
