Wow.. I hadn't even noticed this. What about you?

So, something I noticed last night while spamming games with a friend.. is that I tend to play similar champions.

No, not in playstyle. Not even in role. Not even in lane, category, or anything other than one factor.

I play a lot of female champions.

Now before you guys go on a rant, I'M a female gamer. There, I said it. And I honestly, 100%, legitimately didn't notice this until last night. But when it did, it blew my mind away. I mean, here. Look at this.

Out of the first three rows, it's not until the start of row 3 that we see a male champion. Draven. (Draaaaaaaaaaaven.) And he's at a level one mastery, I've only played him a couple times. Not only that but out of the first 3 rows, 30 champions in total, only 6 that I play are guys. Who knows. It could be that playing female champions, being a female myself, feels more enjoyable in the male-dominanted game of League (Admit it ladies, 95% of League players are dudes. And they make it obvious.)

So that's where I wanna ask you, boards. Do you play champions that are your gender? Or the opposite? Why do you play who you play?

And most contexts of fantasy involve a measure of personal relation to the characters to immerse the player effectively. So its not surprising that the things you gravitate towards reflect well on your perception of either self or desired attributes.

YES. I'm so glad I saw this. I'm the exact same way. I can't think of many male characters that I play with any degree of comfort or skill. I simply play female characters more, and any female characters that I don't play, I'm always willing to try. I gravitate towards them way more.

Faves; Karma Jinx Orianna Sona Soraka Syndra Zyra Nami Nidalee Morgana Ahri Annie Ashe Cassiopeia Lissandra Shyvana Lux Lulu ... Yeah. The only male champs I ENJOY are Bard and Vladimir. I play Vlad because I think he's cute D;

And yeah I'm a chick, but I really think that there are more chicks playing League than people seem to think... And I think that female champs are just more fun than male champs :o lol.

Mine are pretty much even. I wouldn't say you play mostly female champions because you are female but your first 2 rows allow you to play any role. I usually prefer female champs tbh bc typically they're the mages ;p

There have actually been some interesting findings around "gender switching" in MMOs specifically. According to the below academic study, men are 3x - 5x more likely to play a female character than women are to play a male one.

I own 18 female champions and 26 male champions, yet I enjoy playing the females more, (for the most part) but just because of their kits.
