Trying to out-smite the enemy jungler for Baron/Dragon

Hello, casual plat 1 player here.

I main jungle and adc, and whenever I get the jungle role I saw the most important thing to do (in my opinion) in any scenario, is trying to out-smite the enemy jungler. There are junglers who are specifically built for this, such as lee sin for example, His Q can let him dash into baron/dragon and deal missing health damage and can smite right when he lands the kick. And if your playing a jungler for example, hecarim, who can't quite as well do that much "burst" as lee sin, can prove to be a problem.

So, in this case, would be best to make sure that lee sin is either at another part of the map, or dead, so that taking baron/dragon is guaranteed. I am just curious to know if there are other strategies in these sorts of scenarios that might be possible... Inb4 git gud.

Only get objectives when enemy jungler is dead/other side of the map. Or that you are sure that you can win any skirmish coming your way. Also some dragons are less worth than others. If a Lee Sinn suicides to steal a wind drake, it has way less of an impact compared to an ocean drake steal.

Another option is to tank the Q yourself, then he won't get the execute damage.
