Still doesnt fix the fact that masteries are % damage and flat resistances.

I'm fairly certain there's a few defensive percentage masteries also.

None that are % permanent resistances. The only one is 10% for 2 seconds.

unyielding in the resolve tree, runic armor, fearless, bond of stone to name a few more

doiminat0r36001 votes

Bond of stone also takes a % of the damage delt to your ADC. Making the 4% DR useless because youre still taking 4% of the allied champion damage as yours.

Runic armor is Shields and heals. Not resistances.

Fearless is what I mentioned above being the 2 seconds thing.

You have me on Unyielding. But it's only bonus armor and MR. 5 extra armor/MR isnt even a % more in 99% of cases. Especially since it isnt very noticable unless you have over 200 armor meaning + 10 armor.

Bond of stone may not result in you taking less damage but it for sure results in your allies taking less damage. And isnt that the point of a tank? I take it on supports sometimes because i can always use the dr on allies.

doiminat0r36002 votes

The point of a tank is to take damage but also keep your allies alive and peel for them. Rarely is a tank designed to do damage. If you take their damage, but you cant keep them alive if you die because of Bond Of Stone (Can happen with burst, specifically single target ultimates).

my point is that it's there im with you that it could probably use buffs

Ahaahhaahaah you think riot reads boards qq

doiminat0r36002 votes

I think they do. They respond on things that the community talks about frequently. I just wish it would be more clear about when they respond and their plans so the community can see how it is. I also wish the community would stop claiming things that are untested. Skarner was considered "under powered" on the PBE before his release. As was Ekko. Then people said Cameille was under powered but now she is a tyrant.

It's damage creep, not power creep.

doiminat0r36002 votes

Power creep = damage creep.

Unless you have a different definition of power creep.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

Damage creep means large increase in damage, power creep means when something is objectively better than the other in all ways.

Damage creep is a form of power creep, but there are also other kinds of power creeps. Mobility creep is one of the more common one. I'd also argue that utility creep has been happening recently.

Resists are %damage reduction lmao.

Flat offensive stats do exist: Natural Talent. And flat offensive stats are... flat.

%Resists exist too, the literally first tier in the resolve tree is 5% extra armor/mr or 2 hp/5. Fearless gives flat armor/mr and %armor/mr boost.

But when you get 5% more damage in one skill but get + 8 Armor and MR near friendly turrets, which would you rather have? The thing that can give you 20 extra AD at 400 AD, or an extra 8 Armor which in most cases isnt even an extra % resistance.

2 hp/5 is flat as well, incase you couldnt tell.

Fearless gives flat armor/mr and %armor/mr boost but only for 2 seconds. Nearly useless unless they're bursty. Especially when that 10% doesnt add directly to resistances (ie. 20% --> 30% resistance) but rather 100 --> 110 + 2 per level which isnt even 2% extra resistance. Hardly useful really.

Here we have defensive % resistances Masteries: Fearless -- 10% + 2 each level for 2 seconds when hit by enemy champion (9s cooldown) Bond of Stone -- 4% damage resistance & 6% of allied damage directed to you.

Meanwhile we have offensive % damage masteries: Expose weakness -- 3% Bounty hunter -- 7.5% or 5% from the other 2 masteries. Battering Blows -- 7% Armor Pen or 7% Magic pen for Piercing Thoughts Assassin -- 2% when no allied champion is around Merciless -- 5% below 40% HP

Not going to count DFT or TL because they do a % of your AD & AP but ill give you a break.

If you're comparing a 5% more damage at 400 AD, it's not really fair to compare Fearless's 10% bonus to... a mere 100 resists. At 300 resists, thats 30 extra armor and mr, plus 10, which gives you 340 armor and mr in total. Then considering pen items, that's a difference between ~150 armor/mr and ~170 armor/mr, which should be at least a few %'s.

I'm talking about the other tier 1 mastery in the resolve tree, which is called "Unyielding", and gives 5% bonus armor and MR.

doiminat0r36001 votes

I'm comparing 24.5% constant extra damage to the mere 5% constant extra defences. I'm also comparing that resistances are exponential and at 300 resists, 30 extra armor is only 2% extra resistance to damage. 77% resistance isn't much, especially since you only get it for 2 seconds. You can get 5% more resistances (meaning an extra 5% armor) and an extra 10% for 2 seconds.

If you go from 200 Armor/MR (with the 5% from Unyielding) and a fight breaks out, you get +10% resistances meaning your resistances go from 67% to 69%. But only for 2 seconds. After the two seconds, you go back to 67% resistances.

But if an AD champ has 400 AD they go from: 400 damage --> 132 (damage calculating resistances without masteries) to 498 damage (not including pen items) to --> 164.34 damage with masteries.

The damage on the tank with 220 armor (from Unyielding being at 200 and Fearless adding 20), becomes (per second at 2 AS) 250, 250, 264, 264, 264. This is without pen items that have a higher odds of killing the tank faster. This leads to resistances being insignificant just because these masteries exist.
