Could I Get Some Tips On Laning Against A Jax?

Tentacle Advisor··2 votes·560 views

Laning against this champion has always been a pain for me. I never know what to build into him.

I once laned against one as a Malphite. I figured going with an Armor/HP + Cold Steel Passive would be the best choice. However, I couldn't get those items in time to be relevant, because by the time I had finished the two parts for the FH, Jax already had 3 kills. [Jungler twice and mid once] He rushed a Hextech Gunblade and proceeded to murder me in lane, even under tower. If he wasn't fighting me under tower, he was roaming through my jungle and to my mid lane and killing them. I didn't know what to do, at that point, and I could honestly say that I was tilted by the situation (and that was just making it worse).

And, just now, I laned against one as Camille. (They picked Jax into me.) I started the lane phase with a Doran's Shield. Levels 1-3 were okay, as I was able to bait out his stun. It didn't always go my way, but I managed to stay alive during the skirmishes, even scoring a kill on him at level 3. However, it was after he had came back with a Cutlass and the Hextech Revolver, that I just couldn't do anything against him. My mind immediately thought back to the Malphite situation, and instead of opting for armor/hp items, I ended up choosing to get more damage, thinking, _ "maybe I can brute force my way out, then."_ Needless to say, that didn't work out at all, and I pretty much began feeding at that point. (Unintentionally, of course. Basically, going to my lane, was just asking to be killed by him. Even if under tower, due to his "E" dodge thing.)

So, with my final frustration of this champ being had, what should I do against this champ? How do I lane against him? (Especially as a melee champion or tank) What do I build when facing him? Should I try to roam somewhere and hope he doesn't take tower? I just really need some help, as I've pretty much had enough of losing to this champion every time I see him.

P.S. Every time I see him picked, in champion select, I go into panic mode.

  1. don't start to duel him if his AA stacks is already at 4+ ( max is 8) unless you know you can kill him.
  2. avoid his CS if you are AA champion such as Xin, Trundle, Aatrox, Tryn, etc.
  3. his CS will counter all AA only... so you still can stun, cast, etc on him.
  4. stun and then burst damage him when you have a chance... he is pretty squishy champion
  5. if he actives his ult... it's better to avoid but depend on your items... his ult is similar to Nasus that give him bonus AR and MR.
  6. any tank or sustain champion will able to crush him.... Jug and fighter such as Darius, Pantheon, Garen, Riven, Irena etc will punish him so easily.

another note... at level 1... if you hit Jax and he will active his CS as minon will agro on him that gives him more upper to damage you more by CS will stun you... you will lost the trade easily... Take into bush if possible.

Jax is just duelist as Irena.

when he presses e stun and run. irelias autoattacks deal more damage and she will have a second e back up before jax if she losing the duel.

Well, she does have sustain that is enough to keep her alive and re-farming the lane.

Well

His level 1 trading potential is one of the best in game because of his E and pasive. He can negate minion damage and still trade with you with his E and his passive ensures that he will be attacking a lot faster. You will need to wait after level 1 or bait/dodge his stun before you can trade more successfully.

Once he reaches level 6 and has his items, trading with him will be a lot harder as he can burst you down surprisingly fast with an empowered AA from his W and R. To counter this, you would need to CC him and trade after he wastes his E, if possible, organise a gank with the jgler.

Late game, Jax will have his items and you would need to focus him. He only has single target damage, so you would need to kill/cc him before he kills your carries.

Long ago people said that Garen was a direct counter, but we're talking five years ago so maybe not now :P

  1. Never trade while his E is up. If he uses E and Q to engage, trade back while kiting away.
  2. When he goes to cs, harass the crap out of him, especially if he uses w reset to cs. He has a poor laning phase against a lot of champs.

Malphite destroys him if you build the right items and only trade when spells are up.

Most people make the mistake of extended trading with me when I am Jax after all cds are uses. Jax will win an auto attack war.

If he is rushing gunblade, then he isn't that good.

Thank you for all of the skirmish tips. I will remember to utilize all of them the next time I come across a Jax. But, I really want to know what I should focus on building when facing him. How do I determine the right build path when facing him, especially when he has 3 different paths of building? (i.e. Titanic Tank Jax, Gunblade Hybrid Jax, T-Force+BotRK Sustain Jax)

Don't get hit by his E and win. The only tip u need. Not hard at all.

You lose because Jax is OP.

Of course youll never see the forums admit it because theyre too busy crying about ADCs, which is hilarious since Im pretty sure Jax can 1v5 vs 5 ADCs.
