Seriously who came up with the dark star mode idea ?
Holy shit it is so awesome :D even if you lose it is still hella fun

personally i dont like it that much. It feels wonky and unfair. Im not a thresh main but I have some mastery on him and i usually find him fun but this mode just feels...again wonky and unfair. Thats just me though.
What's unfair about it? It's a mirror map and everyone is playing the same exact champion with the same exact abilities, it coudn't be more fair even if it tried.
Maybe it is maybe it isn't but we're all doing the same thing and unless you're blind and or bad at skill shots it should be fairly easy i don't even main the guy and i'm decent. (There are things you need to get used to like flays and lanterns and portal hooks so i understand how you might feel about those.) (Extra thing: portal hooks: hooks thrown through the black hole deal extra dmg)
I feel the gameplay and repeatability of the mode is there but i too felt some odd things while playing. It may be just because i never played Thresh and i'm not accustomed hos his kit works but there has been too many cases where a crab or HP shard pops out in front of the target i was about to hook.
Also, the total lock-out of your skills or the other Thresh's immunity to CC if he flays you first/hooks you first. I feel like the mode lacks clarity in that regard and i feel like (since the hook is "global") really weird that after such a long skillshot, you can still move but are waiting for your hook to disappear when you miss.
Doesnt show up to retrieve the lantern [zombie-nunu-bummed]
Must be an ADC main :^)
: ^)
That would be Luke "Rabid Llama" Rinard, who previously designed the gameplay of Bard and Aurelion Sol! He likes cosmic stuff as you can probably tell and you can read about Dark Star: Singularity's development here, with insights from Luke and all: http://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/2017/05/dev-on-dark-star-singularity/
Personally, I find it pretty bland.
Looking forward to the day that Riot returns to actual RGMQ, after having legit rotation for about 2 months last year.
Obviously, a Thresh main had something to do w/ it. Maybe not but not being a Thresh player, I didn't enjoy it at all. I could see it being fun if an amazing Thresh didn't get thrown in w/ noob players, but a good Thresh utterly seems to destroy in there. Oh well, I guess people are bound not to like/hate every mode that comes out. This is one of the most un fun other than the Nexus siege mode. It looks cool though and had a neat concept. Just a champ I don't care for :/ Oh well :)
Legit never played Thresh before and it only took me 10-15 games to get the hang of it before roflstomping everyone every game. If I can do it, so can you, it's not hard.
Bad players gonna lose games and good players gonna win game, well yeah, big whoop that's how games work.
If I had gotten paired up w/ noobs at thresh like me, I would agree w/ you. Maybe that is what the game mode needs, if you own thresh, you go into this queue. If you don't own thresh, you go into the queue w/ the thresh noobs :) Then I'd try it again. As of now though, it's no fun being completely shit stomped, even in a "fun" game mode.
the queue has a mmr, if you lose, your mmr will go down until you are where you belong where the games are more fun for you.
owning thresh doesn't really mean anything, there are plenty mastery 7 thresh in bronze 5 you know.
WC3 Pudge Wars
I'll be honest I hate it. I think it lacks depth and feels like a repetitive phone app with no real strategy involved and a huge luck factor. First time I played it, I went "nope not for me, I'm going back to summoner's rift", then the round thing popped and I went "really?".
[slayer-jinx-unamused]
Besides your team, what's luck about it?
In one of the dev blogs, I think, they mentioned that they wanted it to be like an arcade game, so the appy, repetitiveness was intended
I thought that was going to be super lame at first like you, but it turns out there is quite a bit of depth and skill involved, you can hook enemies, you can hook minions, you can hook walls, you can hide into bushes, you can hide behind stuff, you can flank or come from behind, you can hook through the dark portal directly, you can dash around offensively and defensively, duels can be intense where you gotta micro your champion just like Faker does when he jukes stuff while waiting for cooldown + while still keeping an eye on the map for other players, you can pile-gank on the same enemy, you can save teammates with a counter-hook or the lantern etc..
Easily the most polished rgm riot has ever made, good balance between fun, originality and depth for a quick 5-10 minutes game
Only complaint, the pathing can be a bit finicky when you click near the edges of the map or around obstacles, and the 3V3 clusterfcks where everyone presses E at the same time can be a bit random.
I played it to get the icons, and now I never want to see it again, like Nexus Siege. It's a personal thing, but it's hard to play some of the lesser game modes when I know that URF and Hexakill exist. 6 Threshes pushing E on a prison court just hit the point of being enough by my second game. I'm a glass is half empty gal though.
This is the worst mode Rito came up, it's Amy Schumer of modes! And it's up 2nd time in a row u sick bastards at Rito?!
If only regular mode was fun win or lose.
its a lot of fun and should be kept as a perm gamemode because as of right now all the rotating gamemodes are boring af (Even urf sucks rn)
That's because part of the URF fun was selecting the champ you wanted to play. If they were forcing random champs on us, might as well just urf on the ARAM map. I mean, at least then it would be more enjoyable imo. I find it hard to enjoy SR as a random champ.
Ayyy me too, really love that there is a game mode that is as fun as it is and highlights my main :D Lanterns for Everyone!
It's the most fun ive ever had in a new game mode.
I really love it too. The first real minigame in LoL. I played over 40 games this weekend. Good that it's gone now, I can focus on my studies again haha.
Huh, weren't
tentacles a mini game along w/
vital's/ult?
@L4TENCY and crew. Props!
I think it's a perfect rotational mode: it's kinda fun and feels like a minigame, but I can't see myself playing it on a regular basis. Great mode overall.
I find this boring. It was fun for the first game but I have ZERo urge to play again.
They need to be shot.
Out of a cannon.
Into a pile of fluffy puppies.
