Corki on the PBE

Gatling Gun (E)

  • Armor / MR reduction is changed to flat 10/15/20/25/30 from 20%-28%.

  • Now requires 8 hits to reduce resistances from 4.

Yesterday you made a change to make his gatling gun do % shred of resistences, I considered it a HUGE buff! but now it's back to flat and even worse, you require 8 hits for it to take effect, meaning that once you activate it you have to wait for 8 hits or, since the skill does dmg every quarter of a second, you'd need to wait for 2 seconds for all your damage to be the most effective.

I posted yesterday about it but I realized the post was made at 5 am in the morning and decided to erase it.

I don't think this is a good change though, the progressive shred helped you through every auto attack, ramping your damage up as you fought, now the initial damage is lower and unless you stay in range you'll be dealing less damage.

I love Corki as an ADC, not as a mage makeshift and I hate that you guys seem to be going the latter route... not to mention that the poor guy has been really weak for a while now and other ADCs are taking up his role of armor shredder way better than him (MissFortune +item 3071) there's not even a point for Corki to shred armor anymore, all his damage is magic now and he doesn't scales with attack speed.

It's infuriating to see how you knocked him out of the ADC role, please stop doing so and bring him back.

When I used to play Corki a great enemy would actually be the fed tanks. Because Corki's damage is mixed building penetration is less attractive until he has much more damage. You're stuck & better off building at least 3 raw damage items as Corki before going for the pen (preferably the void staff) as you need more ad/crit/as to be the base of your damage first than usual as your dmg is too split for pen. Changing the E to % shred would have been great effect for Corki and give the ability a clear best use scenario instead of a press and forget it is right now. However, understandably, potentially aoe teamwide % shred would be very powerful I must admit.

A potential solution to this is to go all in and make Corki 100% magic dmg. That is a bit bold however! If his dmg was focused on one type his E pen can be more focused; allowed to be more powerful for him.

I mean, sure it'd be reasonable to make him 100% magic dmg but... isn't that kinda weird? currently you need to buy sorc boots for your dmg to proc accordingly since every champion has a base magic resist + runes, making him do MORE magic dmg is just weird... also, Rockets man, how can these be magical???

Let's not discuss logic here, Alistar's abilities all do magic damage, Katarina only has regular daggers but all of her spells do magic damage etc.

I mean consistency is paramount for league champions, they made Trundle buffier because a wimpy troll doesn't look like a tank

Kat's knives find their target on their own plus she has that shunpo thing... she feels pretty magical to me and she also has AD ratios just in case.

Alistar I have to agree, it'd be very similar to Corki's situation if he did physical damage but scaled off of AP because of his heal and well, he's a minotaur, magical creature? no?

The problem is that the % change would make his E shred useless anywhere outside of mid-late game. Early on % shred is near useless as targets don't have any more than 50-60 MR until mid game.

If Corki's going to deal magic damage as much as physical damage, they might as well make him a hybrid between mages and marksman. Make all of his abilities, including auto-attacks build through both ap and ad. That opens up to combining big items like item 3031 and item 3089 to make him deal tons of damage.

If not, then for Corki's gatling gun, I'd say make the armor/magic penetration effect be built up by armor penetration and magic penetration items like item 3033 and item 3135 and by armor/magic penetration runes.

In the end, Riot doesn't give a fuck and neither does the rest of the community. They are to busy playing these overused champions because they are OP, therefore, enabling them to win multiple games with barely any losses. Riot profits out of those players so they give more attention to those champions without giving any attention to the champions that really need to get buffed. They've put too much focus on MissFortune and the banning system is just a lazy as way of them balancing the game. It's not enough because there are still other champions that are OP that are still going to be played with. Riot just needs to either nerf these overused champions or buff up the ones that really need better attention. Of course Riot was at least giving attention to Corki but that doesn't mean we should stop pounding them to give him proper changes. We're gona keep pounding them until we are satisfied with proper change. The same goes with nerfing OP champions and buffing up UP champions. We're gonna keep pounding on Riot until we are satisfied.

well to be fair Corki was under the spotlight for a looooong time, it's understandable that they nerfed him a bit, sadly the changes were more than just "a bit" they stripped him off bot lane and shoved him into mid.

I don't think he should have this amount of magic damage, before the changes he was perfectly split, Q and W did magic dmg, E and R did physical, but more importantly, his autos did true damage which incentivized building attack speed, he was tuned as an ADC and it was amazing, but now...

Sohleks1 votes

There is that too.

I liked the old dmg distribution a little better as well. Actually it was VERY good for solo laning as no negatron or seeker's armgaurd could sufficiently negate your split damage. Your abilities were all magical and your autos were all physical + a smattering of true so early game you had a true split. Now a negatron or hex does very well against a Corki who is 70+% magical. Not getting around it based on a playstyle (before if they buy resistances you could use a PART of your kit to play around it; I ENJOYED it) Ofc, maybe Riot thought it was unfair on a mobile ranged bursty dps caster solo lane champion.

I would go back to those times and get a THAT laning and >1, 1-2 item power back instead of this 6 items magic critical not even cassiopeia and CC-less thing.

The buff is actually pretty big. Sure, for the first auto you're not going to get the shred, but on Live you would get a measly 1-2 shred for your first auto anyway at rank 1 E. That's nothing. Now he gets full shred after 2 seconds instead of four, it's more shred, and it lasts longer on the target. It's a buff all around.

The real thing I would do to buff him would be to bring that 10% bonus damage back and give him a lower crit modifier (something like 180% crit damage) instead. Corki's problem beforehand was his ridiculous burst with magic damage crits. Reducing his consistent damage because of his insane burst pattern was not okay in my opinion, and the only way to bring him back to viability without overbuffing him would be to revert the nerf that killed him and decrease his burst potential with crit items.

Hige1 votes

I agree that his damage goes up since the numbers are bigger and last longer my complain goes more towards his playstyle, waiting around for 2 seconds and then shred isn't something an adc would do, you need to kite and whatnot so out of the 4 seconds that the skill is active you must focus fire during 2. When I play Corki, at times, I activate gatling gun preemptively before going into a fight, that cannot be done anymore because you risk exceeding the threshold where the shred applies.

I guess that increasing his skill floor is ok but I honestly feel like it's not an adc mechanic :/

Now that you mention it, crit is a very nice stat for Corki because of magic crits!, sadly there will never be an item with AD + magic pen so you're always forced to deal less damage from your skills since everyone has base magic resist and if the enemy has a item 3190 for example, if they also happen to disengage from your gatling gun it's even worse :S

I think Corki's kit punishes him too hard at times, I don't think a crit modifier would help, he scales better with level as mages do, so the change should focus into normalizing his curve to make him more similar to an ADC, that's why his AD ratios are too low on phos bomb, barely 50% AD when it should be at least 80%, and his ult that actually has a scaling ratio, I'd say they should buff that to at least 60% up to 120%, maybe bases should be lowered as well to compensate, but make him actually SCALE off of AD, maybe even make AS increase his reloading time on his ult...

I want adc Corki back :S

I don't see what's so wrong with just putting power back in his q now that his autoattacks are gutted.

Hige1 votes

The base numbers on Phos bomb are fine, it also scales amazingly well, that said, the AD ratio is simply too low and for some reason equal to its AP ratio, it's almost as if Riot was hinting at us that Corki should be played as an AP champion instead (magic pen is only available on AP items and sorc boots)
