What is the most powerful non-ultimate ability in League?

Sherogarth··21 votes·9,456 views

Question is :"What is the most powerful/impactful/useful etc... non-ultimate ability and why?"

In my opinion its Fizz's E - Playful/Trickster... There is little to explain: -low cd (8s at rank 5, without cdr), -high mobility ability that makes him untargetable, -high aoe dmg (270 (+ 75% AP) at rank 5), -strong aoe slow (60% at rank 5) if Trickster is not used, -he can flash during it to reposition himself, -0 (zero/null/nope) counterplay

So what are your opinions? Just put your thoughts in comments and have fun :D.

Both incredibly strong abilities in the right situation.

Honestly you probably gave the exact ability. The only other one I can think of is Yasuo's Wind Wall due to all of the things it could potentially block in a fight. The problem with Wind Wall is it could also do absolutely nothing while the Fizz E always does the job.

for pure damage purposes, it's Maokai's E. 360 total base damage (at rank 5) + 100% total AP scaling all in a small AoE and the second impact slows. you can also use the saplings as pseudo wards

No, for pure damage purpose it's still Veigar's Q, since it gives him infinite scaling.

Fid W base of 900 with 225% AP scaling, damage wise he wins for single target also heals himself for 80% of that...eaisly full HP, Veigar's q would take a while to get up to that amount if you're only farming it. For AoE rumble's bonus Q hits like 475 with 150%ratio

Kuroi863 votes

Hm, there are a lot of strong ones. Pantheon Q with certain death and infinity edge makes a pretty wicked execute. Certain Death Damage: 450 (+ 280% bonus AD) With IE: 562.5 ( + 350% bonus AD)

Fiddlesticks W... shudders Max Magic Damage: 300 / 450 / 600 / 750 / 900 (+ 225% AP) Heal From Damage Ratio: 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80% This is why you never duel Fiddlesticks!

Draven Q Spinning Axes Imagine Draven full build, hitting for 250% crits. Oh wait, I mean 335% crits... You know those videos where "Vayne Mains" get one shot by some champs late game? Yeah... Draven.

Gangplank Q, let me tell you, late game this hurts. 120 (+ 100% AD) Plus applies on hit effects, plus can critically strike! item 3031 item 3087 item 3074 item 3078 ... yeah, can apply all that on one Q.

Shoot, and that's just the tip of the iceberg, LoL is filled with some monstrous damage.

Veigar's and Syndra's Es are both up there.

Akali's, Yasuo's, Zed's, and Katarina's passives can become...Frustrating.

But speaking for non-passives, I mean, there's a lot to pick. But the most useful non-ult? Kayle 's E earns that spot. Hands-down, no contest. Give her a Nashor's and a Runaan's and she'll be tearing through the whole damned rift with that E.

Zyra 's W can ruin someone's day pretty easily, thought it necessarily has to be combined with one or two of any of her other skills.

Yorick 's E can make you crazy.

Pantheon 's Q is one of the most annoying harass moves in the game, if only because it's an auto-hit with a lot of damage and a short cooldown.

Orianna 's W wins teamfights. It goes especially nicely if she's used it on an ally champion during a pursuit.

Nocturne 's Q and W are both often underestimated. The Q has incredible range, excellent AoE, goes through literally everything (you can hit people from the jungle at their own turret with it), and has the beautiful effect of making whomever it touches Nocturne's new target, increasing his damage and movement speed, along with ignoring unit collision for a pursuit. You know, in case it didn't already kill them if you go AD Noc (which you totally should, it's a way more effective build than AS Noc). His W can block any spell, and that includes, uh, everything. Is an Ashe/Jinx about to launch their ult into your team? Get in the way and pop it. Nullified completely. If it can be blocked, W can not only nullify it, but double its passive attack speed bonus, which is 20% at level one. Not too bad.

Additionally, Nocturne's W makes 1v1ing the dragon way easy, since that fireball now counts as a spell. (Yay!)

Evelynn 's Q is not only staggeringly powerful, she can move and cast it at the same time, meaning anyone chasing her is going to continue to get nailed with it. Ganking anyone who relies on skillshots is a breeze, as you literally run circles around them while they try to hit you. If they can even get a hit in, because Eve sure does a lot of burst damage if you let her get near you without a way out.

Irelia 's E. It's the primary reason, I think, why people hate going against her so much. It makes it almost impossible to chase her, and all the while her W is about to come off its cooldown so she can kill you and get all her health back.

Galio's W is definitely up there. At level 5 it gives almost 100 Armor and Magic Resistance, it can be used not only on yourself or an ally, and even if it is used on someone else, it causes attacks on whoever it is on to literally heal you instead of deal damage.

Also, with the way that turrets work now with the inhibitor ones using the laser, the damage is so small but fast you can walk in and walk out from the tower and heal 50-60% of your hp instantly, which can completely turn around a 1v1 or even a 1v2. Hell, I've used that strategy to win a 1v3 WITHOUT being fed.

Vladimir Vlad's transfusion, or even his pool

FLY Slotmachiner2 votes

The transfusion, oh baby! The outplays with Transfusion is so good; I love it ;3

The mechanics of his pool make Fiddlesticks vs Vladimir one of, if not the single hardest counters in the game.

Pantheon's W Aegis of Zeonia. A good pantheon can use it to block damage from dragon and get it at lvl 1. That is to say that it is too good for the current league, which has the majority of its games won by getting first dragon.

JJ H0G2 votes

But now dragon uses spells, so R.I.P. lvl 1 drag.

FLY Slotmachiner1 votes

I think the most powerful ability is Orianna's Shockwave; it allows so much opportunity for your team and has no counterplay once you get caught in it.

whoops; le hue Well then, I must say it has to then go to my favorite champion; Velkoz In which his E allows him, not only to setup a combo for himself, but to also his other mages or laners that must execute a combo in a short period of time

Unpopular idea but I'd argue Ezreal Q

Why?

  • It's extremely fast
  • It has a long range
  • Inexistent channel/cast time.
  • Lowers every skills CD when it lands
  • Applies on-hit effects (At a 1k range mind you)
  • Moderate mana costs mean that this spell is highly spammable.
  • Extremely effective with almost all on-hit items.

Reliable. Strong. Doesn't fall off. This skill has it all.

TotalJerk1 votes

I read that said that in the hands of a theoretically perfect player, Ezreal is the most powerful ADC by far.

I'm surprised that Polymorph/Whimsy hasn't come up on any of the longer lists. I like Lulu, but I don't understand how people haven't complained about this skill being unfair when the chain complaints got Fiddle's Terrify nerfed.

Malzahar Q. 300 base dmg, 80% scaling, 3-second silence, AoE. In a perfect world, at least. It's a very dodgeable skill.

Here are a couple for me that come to mind:

  1. Veigar's E: An AOE stun that can make or break a teamfight. Fits well the the context of his kit. Possibly best CC ability in the game. When you can hit it. I could mention champs that have similar "clutch" CC in their basic kit, like Nami or Lulu, but Veigar's seems to have more of an overall impact.
  2. Thresh's W: No other ability like it in the game. It is a unique ability. Saving a partner from bad positioning. When someone remembers to click the damn thing.
  3. Fizz's E: Like you said, good engage tool/mobility spell. Probably the best assassin non-ult spell in the game.
  4. Yasuo's W (I think that's Wind Wall): Make or break team fights depending on it's usage. I could mention Braum here. But he still takes damage, and it's not like Braum himself is going to punish you afterwards, unlike Yasuo.
