The following runes need to either be scrapped or dramatically reworked in preseason

Precision

  • Coup de Grace
  • Cut Down
  • Last Stand

For the most part, Precision is a really well balanced tree.

Outside of the Targons+Overheal strat from the early days of runes reforged, everything here is pretty strong while not being overbearing, including these three.

The issue with these isn't so much that they're imbalanced, it's that they're boring as all hell and almost no champions have any reason to take anything other than Coup de Grace (maybe Karthus with Last Stand, but even then Coup might be better for the 90% of the time he ISN'T dead).

There isn't really anything interesting about % damage amplification, because even if it's objectively powerful you don't feel any of these runes while you're playing.

In my opinion, this entire branch should just be scrapped in favor of something actually interesting.

Domination

  • Hail of Blades
  • Cheap Shot
  • Sudden Impact
  • Eyeball Collection

You've added two keystones this season, Conqueror and Hail of Blades. Hey, 1/2 ain't too shabby. This keystone does two things.

  • Gives SRO the occasional top lane TK build to recycle for clickbait.
  • Breaks Jhin.

Maybe you could rework it into a much less powerful basic rune and throw it in precision, but it doesn't belong here.

Cheap Shot, Sudden Impact, and Eyeball Collection don't need to be scrapped entirely, but they do need to have their effects revamped. All of them basically serve the same role: give me more damage. It's boring, you don't really feel them in game, and it lends to the issue of damage being too damn high by giving a ton of things that nudge a character's damage output over the edge.

Here's what I propose.

  • Cheap Shot: No longer deals damage. Procs apply a 0.05 second stun. If the proc was on an already stunned target, the stun is extended by 0.1 seconds. CD increased to 10s.
  • Sudden Impact: No longer grants pen. Dashing grants Sudden Impact for 4 seconds, consumed on attacking an enemy. Doing so will slow them by 50 flat movement speed for 1 second. CD increased to 10s.
  • Eyeball Collection: No longer grants AD/AP. Now grants sight range.

Sorcery

  • Summon Aery
  • Nullifying Orb
  • Celerity
  • Scorch

The live version of Aery is no better than the old Deathfire Touch. It's a bland design that just tacks on extra damage here and there.

Lets be real; you only take Nullifying Orb if the other two options aren't good on your champion.

I recommend Nullifying Orb be scrapped entirely and Aery be demoted to a basic rune to take its place, toning it down by making only the shield portion of Aery remain in place.

Celerity and Scorch are both boring runes. They're just passive, thoughtless power and I don't like it at all. They're either so slight that you don't notice them or just noticable enough that not running them against an enemy who has them can be a big problem.

Resolve

  • Font of Life

Font of Life takes one of the most boring things from the old masteries, removes the thing that made it even kinda strong (+5% max HP), and expects us to run it over something like Bone Plating or Demolish. Yeah, no. This isn't a strong rune, and it's not particularly exciting either.

Aside from that, this tree is pretty much OK. I'd still prefer a shield to resists (I miss you, Courage of the Colossus), but it's hard to make tank stats interesting and this tree is mostly good.

Inspiration

  • Kleptomancy
  • Perfect Timing

After the "new runes" craze died down, most champions just stopped using Klepto (did it get nerfed? I think it got nerfed). I'm pretty sure Ezreal is the last champion who still uses it primarily, and I would LOVE if this rune got replaced because I just really hate the design. Free money and random items is just cheesy gimmick.

The stopwatch rune just can't be balanced. If it comes online early, it's mandatory and obnoxious. If it comes online later, it's not worth running.
