Is it healthy if you can't dodge ults, or Cancel them?

I was just talking with my friend, about every champions ult in the game, and who's ult can't be dodged, or canceled. We both agree its not healthy for the game if you can't dodge, or cancel someones ult. How ever how many champs right now have ults that can't be dodged. I have dodged ults like Annie Brand Lux Velkoz Ziggs How ever the one champ's ult I have not dodged yet, or canceled is PykeDoes anyone know if you can cancel his ult in mid animation, or dodge it? And what are your thoughts on dodging or canceling ults? Do you think its heathly if they can't be dodged or canceled?

You've dodged a Brand ult? Thinkyfaceemoji.gif

Pyke's ult can be physically dodged, even by sidestepping if you're quick to react/misleading in the way you move. The easy way is flashing or using hourglass/stopwatch, if he doesn't kill anyone with his ult he doesn't get the reset. Mostly, what makes it hard to dodge is the chain cc prior to his ult, but all of his other abilities are easier to dodge so if you start getting hit by them you're probably not ready for a R dodge anyway.

You can also bait it and heal (not shield tho) at the last moment, if you get out of the threshold, it won't kill you and he won't have his reset.

  1. You can dodge Pyke's ult. Its quite fast and it has no indicator, but you can still dodge it with flash/mobility spell/untargetability
  2. Not every single ability should be dodgeable. There should be a counterplay to a champion as a whole, not to every single ability.

Depends what you mean by cancel? The other day I witnessed a godly play by a Morde in ARAM who cast his ult while Pyke was mid animation on his, stopping the execute. I've also stopped been stopped the execute by being killed as Pyke and killing Pyke's. Knockbacks should work also. He's not unstoppable in the animation it's just very hard to judge as it's also a dash and can be cast from his stealth so it's hard to target, unlike say Jhin or Velkoz who just stand (float) there.

Dodge is easy if you have a dash for flash, there is a big marker. (still think the double gold and execute is bullcrap though, different matter however).

Unhealthy on the other hand is a true damage %missing HP point and click that even if it's half way through the animation will hit you if you dash or flash out of the cast range because it's being cast. They need to nerf Garen's ult really.

only ult's i have a problem with: Vi - disgusting ult, there's no way to get out of a lockdown Rengar - just a plain backline destroyed. no counterplay if rengo's ahead

you can "cancel" his ult by killing him mid animation.

The only ult I feel is slightly unfair is Syndra nuke.

Im fine with most of them being dodgeable kr having some ither form of counterplay since it lets them have a masisve impact when used correctly.

ITT: people who dont design games think they know what healthy vs unhealthy design looks like

There is no such thing as an undodgeable spells especially with ultis.

Pyke's ulti can be countered by mobility or heal.

As a Vel'Koz main, I tend to find the perfect moment to use my combo and get the enemy team as low as possible with it before using my ulti to finish the killing blow (keeping distance is key to that squid) and make sure that the chance to dodge my ulti is as minimal as possible. I have to struggle my ass off to make Vel'Koz with as little counterplay as possible while we have champs that have cheap failsafes built in their kits that they get the easy ticket for least coubterplay.

See I hate veigar, Darius, and garden ult because they are all undogable executes and darius’s is resettable.

Daddy Ants11/29/2019, 2:36:59 PM1 votes

Yes it's healthy.

But point and click ultimates should require some form of setup to get the maximum effect out of.

Veigar ult has a missing health mechanic on it, requires setup to get the enemy low enough to execute.

Garen ult has a missing health mechanic on it, requires setup to get the enemy low enough to execute.

Darius ult damage requires his passive bleed to be stacked.

Syndra damage scales with amount of orbs she has, again requires setup. Late game it becomes unhealthy as fuck though.

The only point and click ultimate that I consider unhealthy besides a late game Syndra R is Vi .

Unlike the above this ult requires ABSOLUTELY NO SETUP of any kind.

Pyke's ult is difficult to sidestep. The most reliable way is usually to walk back towards where Pyke is ulting from.

Stopwatch works. Flash/dash works.

The ult is infinitely easier to dodge than Annie's. It is fast but you can react to it.
