*dies to tentacles ganking Illaoi* "OP Champion Riot GG"

People just gotta learn to treat her tentacles like Heimer turrets. Clear them before you go in. And if she ults, GTFO or get double killed. If I get ganked as Illaoi I'm happy to just stand there, grab one of their souls and ult all 3 of them. Usually because of all the tentacles it spawns I can get a double kill. If people were smart enough to pull out after her ult, that would be happening a lot less.

So basically a guide to ganking Illaoi:

  1. Clear tentacles before going in
  2. If she ults, get out
  3. Don't gank if your laner is currently cursed with tentacles.

EZ PZ.

"If you're going to gank an Illaoi, don't"

Wow, great advice. Such counterplay.

There's plenty of counterplay, I just listed all the ways around it lol

You just have to coordinate more with your laner than you would your average champion. But Illaoi is only really a strong laner. No CC and not that great of a teamfight so really if she can't get ahead there, she won't contribute anything to the team.

If you have to stop the gank because Illaoi has popped ult, then the gank has failed.

Also "can 1v5 with ult" and "not that greats in teamfights" kind of contradict each other.

ganking her too easy she has no escape, high early game mana cost, only reliable counter gank is her ulti which once you force her to waste she's even easier for the laner.

There's no jungle unless you're not a good jungler that can't gank her.

"She can reliably 1v3 by activating her ult" isn't really a great counter-argument to people claiming your champ is OP.

Same for Heimer but no one thinks he's OP, to be fair.

Except heimer is squishy as a naked crab while Illaoi gets healed back plus being building tanky.

Agreed but at least heimer is squishy outside of zhonyas. Makes me fear a tank heimer...

But she has no way of keeping you inside of her ult. You can just run away.

Well her damage is pretty high for a tanky champ, but her healing is the OP part about it. Everything else about Ill is fine but her healing.

I think healing in %Missing Health are borderline toxic. It's difficult to evaluate, so you don't know if you want to all-in if you are the attacker, and if you are the defender, it feels like you just survived by luck when you are all-in'ed.

The other spells that have a %missing health heal are GP's oranges and Darius' Q. The CD on oranges is long enough, but it's the same problem with Darius Q, he always survives with 20 HP thanks to it. Darius is not OP, not at all, please stop banning him, he is actually rather weak, currently. But people feel like he is OP because of this %Missing Health feckin' heal ^^'

Here's a cool guide from someone who plays a bit of Illaoi on how to counter Illaoi.

1.) If you see a tentacle come down, move away from it. They take quite a bit of time to come down. 2.) If you see her next to a tentacle, move away from her. She's going to W you. 3.) If you get Vesseled, attack her. Do NOT move away from the area. That automatically makes you a vessel. The clone lasts for less time if you damage her, and you deter her from attacking your clone if you damage her

The amount of times when people run away after being E'd is way too damn high. Standing in the area is literally the best thing you can do. Taking that damage from the clone is far better than playing "Dodge that Tentacle!" for 30 seconds

Also of note, I believe if you kill 3 tentacles it cancels the Vessel status, so you can just fall back and kill tentacles as they spawn to get rid of it. Also yeah, pressuring her to not attack the clone works too. Running or just leaving her alone is the worst option, so in a way its like CC without CC.

Teemo Heimerdinger Illaoi when you play these, people are scared out of their minds to gank you. reasons don't really matter: they are horrified beyond the point of being reasoned with.

For the most part I don't think she's overwhelmingly overpowered, actually pretty balanced from what I've seen. The only thing I'd tone down is her base stats and how long you get cursed for. Her base stats are a tad on the silly side, while the curse timer seems absurdly long. I know you can lower it by fighting her, but the point is to not fight her during the curse.
