I just played against a Veigar.

I was going Zed, in a normal game. At first he was throwing some decent harass and staying alive quite well, dodging my harass.. I thought "Hm maybe new veigar isn't so bad."

(Skin this part if you don't want story time)

At level 3 I changed my mind, I started throwing my regular WEQ harass while bullying him away from his farm as you're supposed to do in a Veigar lane especially when you have the early-game advantage like Zed has in lane.

http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1742733601/207440401?tab=overview

After level 6 it was so easy to outplay/bait his stun, I could one-shot him after being 3 - 1. If he even showed his face i'd be able to turret dive and leave with 50% health, and thats when I messed up. Veigar only got ONE kill and that was a lucky stun he landed while sitting in a bush, where he got his full combo on me succesfully and I was somewhat near 70% health. I complimented him but even after that I had a considerable lead and could 1v3 with their lack of a tank.

That game was so easy for me.

(Now for some decent Criticism. )

So the main flaw I noticed with the enemy veigar is that he wasn't very good at predicting where I would walk, in fact he played like Old veigar where you point and click your stun. He started adapting but even while trying to predict I had good enough reaction time to step out of the way then W my way to safety and leave his range.

Holy crap though that buff to his range made him way better at zoning out is opponents.** I think Veigar is heading in the right direction but Riot has some work to do with him, right now he's in a pretty toxic spot for people playing as him, and against him.**

BTW DJ sona was in that game, sick as fuck man. I love that skin.

And then you realise the game is supposed to be balanced.

You must not realize that there is no such thing as true balance. It's not possible, not even close. The only way to have balance is to give the same thing to everybody. The game you're looking for is something like chess or checkers if you want balance, not something like LoL that has hundreds of thousands of variables and tons of unique options that make the game fun.

Balance doesn't mean that every match up is even. it means that equally skilled players with identical experience on their chosen champs can make any 1v1 matchup challenging, even if its not exactly even. Zed v Veigar is always going to favor Zed during the laning phase. Zed is faster and has more tools for poking at a rather immobile target. A very good and experienced Veigar player might be even that somewhat with some well placed stuns, but overall the goal would be to farm as much as possible and then get to the team fight phase where Veigar would have more time to aim.

I recently played a match where we had a Veigar mid. He did not win the lane (at 13 minutes both he and the LeBlanc he was up against had one kill and one death in that fight - Veigar was up on total kills thanks to roaming), but once he had boots he roamed to bot lane a number of times and was able to surprise and burst the enemy ADC and Support. He finished the game 19/2/11 and had a huge effect on the game.

Most of the problem here is understanding that each champ requires time to learn and to become good on. I don't know how much you've played each champ, but I've noticed that for me my first 5-10 plays on each champ are rough. I often struggle to remember what each skill does or how to use them in combination. But after that I start to figure out how they synergize and how to get the most from each one. Even then at 40 plays for my most played champion I know there is so much more I need to work on. This change does make playing Veigar a little more difficult, but it didn't kill him. It just means that the Veigar players need to take some time to adjust to having to anticipate what the other player will do. And that is difficult unless you can read minds through a computer screen.

Winning lane against Veigar pre-rework was never a problem, but he had absolutely no way to stop me and almost every mage can shut down assassins with proper timing.

I could dodge everything except for his point and click R, which he only landed twice because I ulted him while he casted it most of the time.

This is a thread criticizing the new Veigar, not saying how Assassins beat Mages, which is the most commonly known thing in the game as they were literally designed to 1v1 mages and carries.

Who is designed to be only playable against immobile AP casters*

the problem with the delay time is it makes it impossible to stun any one. Ive been playing veig alot and ive landed maybe 1/10 of my stuns. Even trying to predict where they are going to walk doesn't help, cause as soon as they see the animation they change directions, Yes you may be able to surround them with the stun but it still gives them plenty of room to dodge you Q and W, not to mention how many champs can blink out of it. And if You cant land E you will never land a W thus cutting his damage down to 2/3s of its potential.

Playing agianst viegar, it is to easy to just walk/dash out of the stun while its on delay. Ive played against multiple veigs and ive only been hit by the stun around 4-6 times. most of the time because I was already hit by some one elses stun/slow.

In all I think they need to revert the delay on it, it hurts him way to much. And since it is so unreliable he will NEVER see competitive play like this. Possible reduce it to .5 seconds or even .25 seconds, making it so that you have enough time to react with a dash/flash but not simply walk out of it.

Thats my main point on this thread, the stun needs a buff.

Veigar did get compensation but it's awkward and needed more work. It's a premature rework.

You should pick someone who isn't a Bronze 2 that doesn't play Veigar at all. You might be right, but your example is no proof of that. I could show you some matches where I destroyed Zed with Diana, but that doesn't mean Diana needs nerfs and Zed needs buffs.

Romans VI XXIII2 votes

this isnt about zed, its about viegar lol

Deep Terror Nami1 votes

And he was saying Veigar was bad because he easily beat him with Zed, and Zed should be looked at for nerfs first. Did you even read what he said? I was giving a scenario similar to his that shows a single match does not mean anything, I was not actually addressing Zed or Diana or Veigar at all.

ItsProYo1 votes

No where was it said that zed needs to be looked at for nerfs. He actually was talking about how the changes they made to Veigars E made it almost impossible for him to hit zed with the stun. But then went on to state that the changes to his Q made him a little more of a threat as he now had a further range and could potentially harass and zone better.

Even the worst Veigars before the change could land the stun a little more often, but the delay against mobile champions really makes it hard for veigar to hit his stun any more - and ultimately leaves veigar very vulnerable.

Deep Terror Nami1 votes

I may have confused this post to another I had just read, but that single part aside, the rest stands. A single match where he stomped Veigar doesn't mean anything, and that was my only point. Again, Veigar may very well be complete shit now, but one match does not prove that.
