New Yolo Queue Banning System Suggestion
Hey there, League community. I was having a discussion with a friend of mine, and she was talking about she hates how first pick has full control over bans. "Everyone should get to vote on who gets banned." I thought about this, and thought that there's way too many champs in the game for this. In the game's current state that works, but once the game's balance smooths out a bit, this system won't go anywhere. So I then thought of a way to give everyone in yolo queue a fair say on who gets banned.
Upon entering champ select, a minute is given to everyone BEFORE the ban phase. Each member of the team excluding the team captain is given a minute to select two champions (maybe three, haven't refined the system much yet) they wish to have banned. Once every member has selected two people to have banned, the team captain chooses among those that were suggested. This way, you won't get a team captain that just bans people he hates playing against. It won't be three mid lane bans, it will be bans that the whole team (well, almost) wishes to have. Furthermore, low elo won't have to tolerate awful and selfish bans as frequently, people that haven't played in a while won't have to pick without a clue as to what's meta and isn't meta, and solo queue will overall be a healthier environment.
I'm still trying to refine this system, and I'd appreciate thoughts and suggestions on this. I think that if all four members elect a single champion for a ban, that champion should automatically be banned by the team captain. I also feel that if three people elect a single champion for a ban, that should be an automatic ban. If only two people elect a single champion, even if there's no other champion that has received multiple votes, they should not be an automatic ban. This way, duo queues can't dictate bans.
