Ryze/SkinsTrivia

"In the U.R.F game mode (available in April 2014), Ryze was disabled in non-custom games. This was most likely due to his naturally low cooldowns combined with his passive, both of which led to locking one enemy in place and barraging him with spells with hardly any counterplay possible."

Ironic, isn't it?

I find it hilarious that when Ryze lost 25 base damage on Overload back when it was targeted, he was considered "unplayable", and "unhealthy" beforehand. I'm struggling to see how the new Ryze is anywhere near "healthy" in terms of game balance.

Ryze can't permanently go into URF mode, and spends most of his time in a state where he's weaker than most champions, which means his opponents can avoid him when he's strong and collapse on him when he's weak. His previous iteration was unhealthy because there wasn't any moment where he was especially stronger or weaker, and so led to this really flat power expression where he was either too weak to do anything or too strong to ever be approached, with no middle ground in-between. Currently, Ryze has an issue with being able to perma-root targets while empowered, which is obviously not healthy, but that's being fixed next patch via reductions to Arcane Mastery's uptime and Rune Prison's duration.

i really dont get it why do they feel the need to nerf the w duration its not even a second? might as well remove the root and replace it with an instant dmg skill

because people realized that if you actually start maxing W, you can A) keep the enemy rooted during your 'power stage' to pump out damage (less than Maxing Q, but more than if the enemy was able to escape after the .75 root) and B) it roots the enemy to stay safe when your passive isnt up.

Rune Prison's duration scales from 1 to 1.4 seconds on the PBE. It's getting nerfed a little to prevent Ryze from permanently rooting his opponent, which has been causing a lot of grief on live.

They're also putting more power into later levels of Q, because Ryze players maxing W was what started all this in the first place.

weaker

buut still if you try to get him then he will cage you and run away

also he has 4 skills one on 3 second cd so it takes him 3 seconds to get urf'd without any stacks

owerall i dont like how riot handles the problem and i dont think that ryze will get any weaker even if chaining the snares will be harder

this guy will still remain insanely tanky and insanely bursty ... early and late game mosnter

Uhhhhhh.... At level 1, it's a one second root.

Root Duration: 0.75 / 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 not to mentions it's being lowered on pbe

Hahahahaa... but i heard that the reason was because of the amount of single targeted Qs he could spam dealing tons of damage.

Apparently, this new arise is stronger even thou his Q is no longer point and click, his E no longer removes % MR, just flat, and I am 98.89% sure the MS buff on his ultimate is less. But this new ryze, so much stronger than before

Here's why. The old Ryze passive reduced cooldowns by like 2 before. New passive reduces cooldowns by 4 each spellcast (scaling with overload's cooldown). This means even more spellspam, and even more chain rooting, with a large mana shield to boot

Frikgeek1 votes

What? They changed his E to reduce %MR, it was flat before. % Is worse than flat in almost every situation, the enemy would need to have over 200 MR for his new 12% shred to be better than the old 24 flat shred. The mana ratio on his E was doubled and it's a lot more reliable now, you don't have to hope for lucky bounces. The movement speed on his ult wasn't changed.

Oh yeah, and his passive reduces cooldowns by like 4s instead of 1s when it's active. He can get off 4 snares in a row before the previous snare wears off, old Ryze couldn't even get close to that level of bs.

lol no

The problem wasn't rooting since Brand could perma-stun you in URF. The problem was his damage was limited only by his cast speeds which weren't that long. Therefore if he got near you he would just delete you ridiculously fast.

Anyone notice another thing about ryze:

He literally changes the meta.

He was op, and damage dealing tops was the meta. He got nerfed to oblivion, tanks dominated top lane. He was buffed again, he changed top lane and also changed mid lane. He was nerfed... AGAIN. Tanks were relevant this season. He gets buffed and now we see people in Korea pick up riven and counters to ryze.

Ryze determines what people pick. He literally is the key to top lane.
