We need CertainlyT at Riot
Now most of you are going to disagree with me. I have seen all the hate towards CT and his "bullshit" champion designs. I'm going to start by saying that I am not a fan of him either. I recognize, however, that the champions that he was brought into the game are necessary for the game to be healthy. A few examples:
Yasuo: We all know this champion. Possibly one of the most popular champions of all time since his release, Yasuo has been the plague of the lower ELOs because of Way of the Wanderer and Wind Wall. These mechanics are needed for the game. Wind Wall forces players to make gameplay decisions based on whether or not they use all of their spells to kill a target. It adds more depth and all-around better decision making, instead of the "I'm going to throw everything I have at you at once just because I can" play-style. Working around the ability isn't that hard either. A skilled Yasuo will use it to save his life. If you force him to use it, then it has a long cool down before he can use it again. And if he backs off because it is down, you have some time to push an objetive because he isn't going to engage as often or as hard if his most powerful ability is down. Good teams can capitalize against Yasuo. He isn't cancer.
Kalista: Probably the most hated champion in the League other than
or
, Kalista is defined by her passive, which allows her to orb walk and kite her enemies. This is a great addition to the League, no matter how infuriating it is. She is the counter to bruisers who are imfamous in seasons past for making ADCs feel worthless and for being to take them on head-on. But this isn't overpowered. Many ADCs have a higher range than she does, meaning that if she can attack them, they can attack her. Kalista's current item state is double lifesteal with high attack speed, sacrificing critical strike chance to gain as many stacks of rend on her targets as possible in a short amount of time. Any ADC with a higher range can attack her BEFORE she can attack them, and most ADCs will also build critical strike chance, meaning they can burst her down faster from a higher range than she can duel them. She isn't a burst carry, she is a DPS carry. Martial Poise does not protect her from targeted attacks, either, meaning that her presence in the League gives viability back to Taric and Fiddlesticks and Rammus. She is heavily reliant on supports with good engage, bringing Alistar and Leona back into the game. She is also heavily reliant on her passive for survivability, giving Zyra more viability with her insane lock-down-based kit. Kalista is not nearly as strong as people make her out to be, and she gives many champions viability when they would otherwise struggle.
Thresh: Ah Thresh, the Lee Sin of supports. This Jack-of-all-Trades champion is the bane of every bot lane duo's existance. With good lock-down, a dash for the ADC, and being one of the only champions other than Leona or Nautilus who can CC chain an entire team on his own, he has been called overpowered and overloaded for the 2 years that he has been a part of the League. He is a champion designed for lane dominance and snowballing. Used for many of the same reasons people use Blitzcrank, Thresh is definitely a powerful force, but not unbeatable. His power may be viewed as too high, especially late game, but most champions late game have all the tools they need to deal with him. In a game where both sides have equal gold and objectives, the team with Thresh is at a disadvantage depending on the support on the other team. Being the Jack-of-all-Trades, he doesn't do his job better than anyone else in his role except for one thing, and that is Dark Passage. Thresh makes the warding game all the more important for victory (which should be the game at any time anyway) because of his ability to get picks on the other team from the Fog of War. He is countered by supports with sustain, giving Nami, Sona, and Soraka a place in the League when he is played. He also gives viability to ADCs who struggle in the laning phase, making hypercarries more viable because they can survive until the late game.
Although they may be frustrating to deal with, they are what the League needs in order to have diversity and balance. CertainlyT has gotten bad feedback and horrible community backlash in the past, but I think what he brings to this game adds more gameplay experiences and forces players to find new ways to win and improve. The rage threads that I see all say different things, but they all have the same impression to me: "I don't like having to play differently than what I'm used to when I see (insert champion here) because it is difficult. I am not going to change my way because Riot is at fault, not me, and because I am a player, I know what is best for the game". CertainlyT should stay at Riot and keep making champions, because he brings diversity and balance to the game while giving other champions a chance to be viable in situations where they would otherwise not be. The hate needs to stop, and diligent practice and improvement from the player-base needs to occur. It is getting WAY old.
were not made by him.
