I just had a great game

You know one of those games where everyone on the team gets along, you actually share humor and actually laugh while you're playing.

It was fantastic right until someone on the team disconnected.

Then the game was just pure stress, everyone trying so hard to stall for time while the enemy team continued to take blunt advantage of their numbers and ended up closing the game after 15 minutes of downhill play.

Why have we accepted AFK as a part of the game?

There's a million things that could be done to try and resolve a game with an AFKer. Can't we at least going to explore some options? Why have we bought into this mentality that it's okay if some games are literally ruined by disconnects?

I had a lot of loses tonight but none of them made me quit playing. But when I finally had a great game, the kind that keeps you playing, and it was ruined by an AFKer, that was the point where I honestly didn't feel like playing League anymore.

What do you guys think? How would you handle AFKers, do you think there could be a way to save games from them?

I had a game yesterday where my mid laner dc'ed at level 2. She reconnected and disconnected about 5 times before giving up it seemed (felt sorry for her). Mid Lane is a big loss too (especially when you're a melee jungler and you have an alistar support so no one can really rotate mid). Regardless, our top Lane got destroyed by ganks since I needed to go clear waves at mid tower so often, and despite that THE ENEMY TEAM SURRENDERED AT 20. I went 5/1/4 from ganking mid 1v1 whenever she pushed to tower, and our adc 14/1/4 simply from having a better bot Lane (and 2 ganks).

My point is, even 4v5 with a teammate on the 4 who is outright losing, you can still win. That said, it's a lot harder and is really not fair. When someone disconnects legitimately though I feel it is acceptable, Internet isn't perfect and there are times when your signal just disappears when you think you have a good connection. When someone intentionally leaves a game though, that really needs to be stopped. I mean, it's completely unfair to the other 4 players. Even if they could win their chances are so much lower...

because sometimes its not peoples fault but the servers fault? sometimes shit happens and you have to get off of league because life > game. i'm sure you had one of those moments where you couldn't connect or you had to leave a game because of some reason, does it mean that they should get punished off the bat for one/a few offenses? ofc not but if they keep doing it, sooner or later its going to catch up with them.
