I'd almost certainly go for Baron unless you happen to be right next to Elder Dragon. Baron's the much more dangerous objective to do when the enemy team's around, he puts out a lot more pain. Elder Dragon by contrast takes a while to do but doesn't hit anywhere as hard. Additionally if Elder's appealing to you (you've got a bunch of drake stacks) it's probably not too appealing to the enemy (they don't) so consequence of having it stolen if you do it later while they're back up's low (do Baron, then do dragon later).

Typically Baron.

You can take Baron a lot faster than Elder Dragon in most cases, but Elder is far superior if you have more than 2 dragons already taken.

Baron is better for sieges in most cases, while Elder Dragon is better for pushing and ending quickly with your advantage.

As a final conclusion, take Baron if you got a lucky ace and need to mount a comeback. Take Elder Drake if you're ahead on dragon secures, but need to close out before the enemy gets to full items.

Step One: Kill Elder Dragon Step Two: Push as four while Mordekaiser solos Baron Step Three: Kill everything and everyone.

My vote would be Baron.

  • Elder Dragon grants true damage against non-towers, making it better suited for teamfights

  • Elder Dragon only lasts 2 minutes (aka 1/4th used up before enemy respawns), compared to the 3.5 minutes of Baron

  • Elder Dragon increases the other Dragon buffs

  • Water = Good when poking/being poked off and on, which isn't happening when 3 are down

  • Fire = Bonus AP/AD, which you're not going to need for waveclear at the 35 minute mark and you don't have targets to use it on

  • Earth = Bonus Tower/Baron Damage, pretty good in this situation

  • Cloud = Movement speed, which helps you out rotate a team that's dead, maybe end the game faster? But you might be better off ignoring both and ending if you're that close.

  • Baron gives up to 40 AP/AD

  • Baron helps you break down the last line of defense

  • Enemy AP Waveclear becomes near useless

  • Ally minions more immune to damage, thus lasting longer, letting you attack the turret more

Varies largely per game, who was killed, who on our team is alive, how the game has gone, what items are built, if pushing is possible, how many dragons we have.

thanks for the harsh reply thought i just learned that it is very bad to ask some gameplay questions

Baron over Elder. Elder takes much longer, and it doesn't help a push as much, so you're spending time killing Elder when you could be forcing inhibs.

I would usually go with baron because it gives power to minions and poor waveclear champions are weak against that. with elder, it only gives power to the champions.

Elder dragon does nothing by itself, so it depends largely on the dragons you managed to get before.

If you have few dragon or the dragons you have don't benefit your comp, go Baron

let's say we have 1x infernal 1x mountain 1x ocean drake , then it is better to take dragon right ? but that's only if we are ahead , if we were losing and got a lucky ace we should go for baron ?

That's wrong, Elder drake still gives you True damage burn, even without any stack of Dragon, and it gives you more burn per stacks, even if the stacks you have do not benefit your comp.

Plus, the less stack you have, the easier it is to kill.

Ok thanks for the info I swear I read the tooltip and only saw the info about increaseung elemtanl dragon effects.

Tooltip are very often incomplete, sadly.

You can check the whole effect on the wikia ;) http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon

the truedamage scales directly with the number of dragons, the damage it does with no or only 1 other dragon is hardly noticeable, and even without dragons it needs atleast as long as baron to do. Baron always is the better call if both are up, unless you have 4+dragons and are sure to burn it befor the opponents can contest it. 2min duration are just to low for what it gives and the time it needs to take, especially as it doesn't have an improved recall unlike baron.

DeathBurst1 votes

Elder damage is negligible compared to Baron, so it doesn't give an improved recall, but you don't actually need to recall after taking it.

It's always longer to take than Baron, but not by much if you don't have a lot of stacks. And if you have a lot of stacks, it's worth it. The burn is already noticeable with one stack, but more importantly, by taking it for yourself, you deny it to the enemy team (who probably has more stacks, if you only got 1 or 0).

And Baron is most of the time better, but if you have access to both, you should go to the Elder first, and then immediately use the short duration Elder bonus to go for the Baron and take it uncontested. If you do it the other way around, the Baron buff doesn't help you fight the enemy team to contest the Elder, if they try to trade.

Niaphim1 votes

If the enemy team has taken 3-4 dragons and you just got a comeback teamfight you absolutely have to rush elder to prevent the enemy team to get the buff after their respawn. A team with baron is still manageable, a team with the elder 1+ elemental buff is most likely gg wp.

DeathBurst1 votes

Elder Drake first, because then you can go to Baron and the enemy team can't really fight you because of the Dragon buff.

If you do it the other way around, the Baron buff doesn't help you fight them if they try to contest the Elder.

Baron every time.

Take baron push and end game.

Weathered1 votes

It depends on your or the enemies dragons. If either of you have a lot of dragons (other than ocean because it sucks) you want to take elder off the table .

Otherwise Baron.

Friendly Ram1 votes

My normal game plan is draggy if you have3+ dragon stacks. Otherwise baron is usually better.

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

if the enemy team has great and fantastic waveclear that will make it very hard even with baron minions. for example sivir. or kog maw. you might wanna take elder drag. as its very hard to beat a team in a 5v5 that has an elder drag. the burn damage is just too much. especially if you have stacks

rtbf2256182411 votes

If you have at least 2 Mountain dragons, you can just get both really.

Sylvant1 votes

I cant say which one is the better option in terms of buff, but Baron dies faster, altho is able to deal more damage, which can be risky. At other hand you can pull Dragon outside its cabin for better positioning, but he dies slower. It also depends what enemies are still alive, do they have smite or aoe ult

Baron. Always. Elder Dragon is the biggest noob trap in late game that has ever existed. Its not ever worth going for unless all 5 memebers of the enemy team are dead for at least another 15 seconds. And even then... You probably could, and should, just end the match.

There is NEVER a reason to look to secure Elder Drake in yolo q. Ever. The ONLY time you want to mess with this noob trap is if the idiot enemy team starts it up. Its a free ace and game win. This is the only use for Elder Drake outside of pro play.
