Riot why do you have to make this game worse every single season?

Like wtf your game used to be so fun yet you keep changing it for the sake of change to the point i dont even like it anymore. Youve taken one of my favorite games and turned it into what ever this is. Its not the same game it used to be. Its not fun. And i honestly dont have any desire to keep playing it. Uninstalling this game as we speak ive been playing since season 2 and finally you guys have changed the game to the point i can no longer enjoy it. Have fun with the new casual gamers youre so desperate to get since all you care about is more money and keep alienating your long time fans see how much more toxic and stupid this game is in 3 years.

You know, it impresses me how specific some people can be at complaining, but still be so vague that I still have no clue what they are complaining about.

Well, I can say that I uninstalled because I didn't like all of the reworks and changes they were making to the older champions - specifically making them more complicated and adding a bunch of gimmicks and "minigames" to them. They also have been attacking player agency in a number of ways over the years such as the regen updates being based on base stats, and changing abilities to scale off champion level instead of spell level.

Also the company that owns Riot, Tencent, is like super evil.

Fair enough for reworks. More of an opinion and context based thing though imo.

And, speaking from the math side of things, the old regen system simply didn't make sense to me before. The Flat Regen stats of old are best for the early game, in which can promote the worst kind of play style (simply outliving all of your opponent's attempts to poke you down) or scale into uselessness late game (in which case, why even invest in the item?). Maybe the base stats and % multipliers weren't the right answers to the old regen system's problems, but you have to admit the old regen system did have problems. Like, imagine if we could still buy like 15 pots at level 1. In some cases perfectly fine and not really a problem, in other cases HOLY SHIT is that an abuse case.

And that third reason again I would think lies closer to opinion and context. Not trying to diminish you or anything, but at that point it's not something you go and publicize on the boards like InfinitexMortal is trying to do.

And yeah I've heard of Tencent. Ahh well.

Old regen certainly had its problems, I agree - specifically there was the issue with early game regen vs late game regen, and the issues of balancing across that. I was initially excited for the regen changes because I thought they could make better regen items since they had an actual scalability to them. However, what actually happened was that the changes were used to lock specific champions out of regen: it became a system of "you are not allowed to build this on this champion" rather than the bonus to allow good regen scaling it was sold as.

The potions change is just another example of attacking player agency: you are not allowed to prioritize sustainability over raw stats with your starter gold now. But there's item 2033, you say, but that is far more expensive and a weaker sustain start than the formal potion start and it's justified by giving you combat stats instead. Also, dual potion helmet still isn't a thing.

Well, sometimes it's justifiable imo (Riven and her active ability to shield herself in fights/from damage. Blocking most damage and just passively healing the rest could get obnoxious), and from what I remember at the time, I recall there being way too much ambition to rebuild the regen system, but not enough commitment to handle each champion in a case by case basis.

And again, I really don't think 15 potions is justifiable given the line between "oh neat I can do this" to "oh neat I can abuse this" is much thinner for that first buy option than other items.

I don't think it is justifiable. If I wanted to buy full regen Riven (for... some reason?), that should be my prerogative. If that's not the case, then why have items at all? You might as well just move to a talent system like HotS so that champions can only have what specific powers they're allowed to have.

In regards to this:

I think the instant you start talking about people "abusing" items you've already left the reservation. The whole point of there being a shop is to be a place for people to spend the gold they've farmed to buy items that give them benefits, with the players ultimately deciding what will give them the best benefit at the time. It is not possible for any player or champion in the game to "abuse" an item: they only buy the item from the shop and benefit from its stats and abilities, like every other item in the game.

Jeden, there's a difference between benefitting from certain items and starting the game with effectively 2250 bonus health.

JedenVojak1 votes

But that's not 2250 bonus health all at once - as I recall, potions put a HOT on you and don't stack, they just go one after the other. That renders you resistant to poke, but very vulnerable to burst. Besides, you have to compare those benefits vs the benefits of flat damage reduction and regen item 1054, AD and lifesteal item 1055, and mana regen and ap item 1056 over the course of a game.

I will concede that, perhaps compared to those other starts, 15 potion start may have simply been too valuable - but that's a far cry from removing it altogether, with mana potions.

I mean lets be honest most things in this world are owned by a super evil group somewhere down the line

Could you be even less specific?
