A simple buff to Thornmail.

Now applies Grevious wounds for 1.5 seconds when target attacks you. This is largely because lifesteal shuts Thornmail down hard.

Thornmail doesn't need a buff.

I would rather see Thorn return ALL sources of physical damage.

Because watching Zed blow himself up on the Tank would be hilarious.

Yeah I like watching someone do that in Dota 2

Except for the time I did that while playing Phantom assassin.

4.5 times damage crit blew me up

The only time I buy Thornmail is when an AD aspected character is fed beyond all reason and belief.

interesting idea

Perhaps if thronmail had an active say

For the next 3 seconds anyone who attacks the owner of the thornmail will have grevous wounds applied for 3 seconds

This would make it something that is not always over bearing but would allow for a tank to be something that a carry regrets attacking for a time.

That's why I made it an extremely short duration. The intention is that the healing gained from lifesteal against a target with thornmail is halved.

Well it shouldn't be something that applies every time someone attacks then every time though

That is why I am saying an active would be iverall better on it since you use it right as you go into a fight.

Thornmail: You take half damage from physical damage and the attacker takes 30% damage, pre mitigation, on autoattacks back as magic damage.

200 armor vs 500 AD + 100% crit (not really realistic but makes the math easier): you take 333 damage per attack, they take 300. With 20% lifesteal, they take 233 damage.

300 armor vs 500 AD + 100% crit : You take 250 damage per attack, they take 300. With 20% lifesteal, they take 250.

Vs Last Whisper

130 armor, you take 435 damage per attack, they take 300. With 20% lifesteal, they take 213.

195 armor, you take 339 damage per attack, they take 300. With 20% lifesteal, they take 232.

You'd need ridiculously high amounts of lifesteal to actually counter thornmail. Even if a carry had 100 MR (Requiring them to get 70 MR from items/runes/masteries), they'd still need 32.6 lifesteal and last whisper just to stay even with 200 armor.

Well there is also the MR factor since 100 MR makes that 15% magic damge taken down from 30%
