Gameplay: There's a certain play style that must be used for this approach to be successful. Your team is going to rely on your early game movement speed to gank lanes. It is preferred to have a lane partner that will allow the enemy to push towards your tower. This allows you to use your flash and pulverize combo to hit them under the turret and potentially get first blood. If not stick close to them and play as you usually would. Always remember to conserve mana though.
Now you finally have about 800 gold to spend. Our first priority is to buy some upgraded boots. preferably the
. You should be level 4 to 6 at this point in time. Head out of your lane and use strategical ganks to set your teammates up for a kill or take it yourself if you can. To do this you generally wanna come from behind the enemy. Do not attempt to come from behind the turret unless you have your flash up and ult ready. Ping for your teammates to follow up when you push your enemy away from there turret safe zone. They are either gonna have to blow there flash and live or take lots of damage and potentially die. This makes sure your ally can push the lane as long as the enemy jungler doesn't attempt a sneak attack to aid his/her backing ally.
After some successful ganks you should have some assists or kills under your belt and some extra gold to spend. slowly build on your
because the criticals and movement speed are detrimental to your success ad AD Alistar. Team fighting phase should be close if not started already. If you join in a team fight use your W Q combo to engage the squishies when teammates are close to you. If you cannot find a good opening assault or surprise attack look for a lane that needs to be cleared and pushed until your teammates are ready. Always make sure to ping them to be careful though since you will no longer be nearby. If you chose to bring teleport instead of ghost then use the wards you and your allies place to sneak up behind the enemy or rescue teammates.
The first item that you build into your
should be the
. Then immediately save up 900 gold for the
. This ensures that you can stay in lane longer by stealing life since you aren't relying on just spells for damage. As you build the items I recommended you will see a noticeable difference in your ability to 1 v 1 enemy champions an Alistar usually wouldn't be able to. especially if you catch them by surprise. The last 2 Item slots I labeled as "Conditional" because a variable at play is whether the enemy has lots of armor. If they do you will wanna build some armor penetration, but if not you will want to build maybe more attack speed and critical chance to go with your life steal. It's all situation and based off of personal taste.
If your teammates cooperate and have map awareness most likely you'll be doing very well with good gear mid to late game. I can tell you from personal experience that a lot of people, even in normals, get very mad and spiteful at you for attempting to play this role. They may threaten to report you, trying to coax the enemy into reporting you, let the enemy kill you by not helping, or just harassing you in general. Be nice and respectful to them and even help them so you can place a report in after the game due to there behavior for it is all of our duty to follow the summoners code.
