Tanks are fixed LUL

korg0234 votes

Again Riot trying to fix things that were not even broken before. At this point i feel like they just change things for sake of change without much thought into it.

I still dont see why they focused so much time to change item 3143 item 3068 item 3742 etc etc, instead on spending that time on something that actually matters like dozens VGU that are actually needed.

I don't think you know what context means.

1 they changed durability to be about getting the appropriate resistances rather than just stacking health 100% of the time. It's a change that slightly helps tanks, and gives them the options to make items more unique than just "health".

2 They put so much time in that one patch of changes to said items that broadly covered a lot of thing tank related. So much time / sarcasm.

3 They have multiple teams set to do different things, not everyone is a universal worker that can just do everything as needed at any time. I believe they have two teams for VGU type things but I could be wrong on that. They're not the ones working on balancing changes really.

You got down voted for speaking the truth. The fact is they do change just for the sake of changing. Keeping the game in constant unbalanced chaos drives sales--players are forced to try this and that champion, buy more rune pages etc to try to figure out how to pull ahead in ranked.

Its sad that only you and me and like 3 others apparently out of everyone has the brains to understand that this is happening for a variety of reasons, some of which involves employees being promoted to their own level of incompetence, and ego driven leadership that cares more about their ideas than what is good for the game and what the players want.

It's not about sales.

Almost no game can be perfectly balanced. The few that are truly balanced are "solved" games - Tic Tac Toe and the like, where there's always a single best move. Complex games like MOBAs are particularly hard, though, and League's stat system makes it one of the most complex of all. However, most people can agree that games that are consistently broken are usually less than fun. No one wants to play against any champ 100% of the time, as evidenced by all the trendy anti-Yasuo/Lee/Rengar/Orianna!?!?/Tryndamere/Pantheon!?/FOTM/Teemo threads. So what's the solution?

The answer is called perfect imbalance. The concept is that of giving up on perfect balance and acknowledging its impossibility. You then rotate power quickly enough through a complex game system to prevent people from just following the meta and becoming amazing at every new strong meta whatever, encouraging people to stick with things they're good at through the bad times for long-term rewards. The result is a highly malleable meta, a chaotic balance environment, and, ideally, high playstyle diversity where every player has their day in the spotlight.

Spare me with your get out of jail free called bs of "perfect imbalance" You think there is a highly diversity of playstyle? Haha. Despite the fact that 130 champs feels like about 30? Yeah, nice diversity. You would have more diversity by having more champions viable. Right now, we don't have that and it shows.

It seems like there is so many smart and intelligent people on these boards, they know the best! What i said is simply fact, those items were just fine before,no need for change. Zac was fine as a champion, many things were fine yet riot just change it for the sake of change and to create mess. There are loads of examples of this but people are blind and all they know is to downvote.

we dont even need content everything is said in the title

Gelmous4 votes

this thread is useless and is a waste of data, he is stating the obvious anybody can check the wiki or the game and see the health difference, giants belt gives more health than randuins okay and then what ? what the hell is he trying to say ? this is where he needs to provide a context instead of a shitty "lol"

korg0233 votes

too bad you wasted so much time writing that comment on "useless thread" go get a life if you cant enjoy little things. Stop wasting time on boards if all you want is essay posts.

Giant's Belt builds out of a Ruby Crystal and 600 gold, which is 150% of the Ruby Crystal's cost. This means Giant's Belt has a total coast of 250% of a Ruby Crystal. It provides 253.33% of a Ruby Crystal's stats, which makes sense as advanced component items are more gold efficient.

Randuin's Omen builds out of a Warden's Mail, two Ruby Crystals, and 1100 gold. The gold put directly into health is already only 200% of a single Ruby Crystal, yet Randuin's 350 health is 233.33% of what a Ruby Crystal gives. As far as what every single piece of gold gives you for the total item, removing the components' stats and gold costs gives you 50 health, 20 armor, crit damage reduction, and the active for 1100 gold.

Based off of Ruby Crystal and Cloth Armor, the cost per point of health and armor are 2.67 and 15, respectively. So removing the armor from the value means that you're paying 800 gold for 50 health ... except, no, you're still paying for the crit reduction and active in the case too. Assuming that you're getting your out of your health, that leaves 666 gold for both the crit reduction and the active, both of which are pretty dang powerful if you're actually using them, and is pretty in line with items with AoE slows attached.

Someone seriously must be projecting pretty hard here ... 🤔

But the item builder in the client still says Randuins builds out of giant's belt. But if you click on Randuins, it says it's built out of two ruby crystals. Hmmm...

Dengeden1 votes

Either that or OP really can't count. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

You know... you could have just pointed to their stats which are 380 health from Giants Belt and 350 health from Randuins Omen which shows that the OP does know basic math.

Atanchan1 votes

I got the impression that the guy I was replying to was talking smack about Riot and one of their designers not doing their calculations right and making a completed item have more health than a component item, hence all that stuff about how there's no actual reason for Randuin's to have more health than Giant's Belt and how that makes sense from the cost perspective.

korg0235 votes

On paper 20% reduction to critical strike damage sounds awesome versus crit adc and yasuo, in practice i feel no difference. I played multiple times versus yasuo always rushed item 3143 and last game bought item 3742 . Literally felt no difference in how fast he can kill me. I would even go that far and say i felt more safe with item 3742 since of ms boost and slow. Not to mention that crazy build path that takes up 3 slots and after you have to wait for over 1000 gold in order to finish it. JUST TERRIBLE!

I think giant slayer is a big part 20% bonus dmg plus pen is insane in one item

I would like constructive answer instead of downvote but hey what to do ,people are just entitled to their opinion.

The point being? Needlessly Large Rod gives more AP than Athene's Unholy Grail (60 compared to 40) despite costing less. Randuin's doesn't even build from Giant's Belt so I don't see how the comparison is relevant.

Sire Hippington4 votes

well, that's kinda back to the roots - just that it had cdr, hp/5 and more armor aswell as a stronger passive/active back in S2

Rainfall4 votes

Riot trolled everyone who builds defensive items with the tank rework. Tanks top in 2017 LUL.

when giants belt gives more health than randuins

Does randuin have a belt?

RookPusher1 votes

Yes, but that gave you game-breaking health, so they removed it.

SlashStriker2 votes

one day people will realized how much Randuin does compared to other times

invisiblecat12 votes

With Randuins you sacrifice HP to get more armor, the slow, and the crit damage reductions, which no other item has

when giants belt gives more health than randuins

Does randuin have a belt?

Chess12 votes

NO its just uncompleted item never should give the stats of a completed item besides GA wich is for obvius reasons

buckeyebob452 votes

I mean maybe he just posted this because he thought it was ironic or funny? I sure did lol

I find nothing bad about it bc randuins offers more than just health in compensation but tbh, it's funny that a top tier tank item has less health than a 1k gold item.

Chess11 votes

yea i did but i do think -20% crit a slow and attk slow is pretty valuable for 2900 gold

SzGamer2271 votes

So what?

FCJAAAAGOOOO1 votes

very silly

RookPusher1 votes

Why's that weird? Giant's Belt gives you more health than zz'rot portal too.

Chess12 votes

Yea but does a chain vest give you more armor than zzrot

KoKoboto1 votes

Usually I build a giant's belt first than build randuins so that I'm not missing out too much on health. Also Randuin's build path sucks.

Proxy3451 votes

Thats why item 3143 is officially in the garbage lol

Chess11 votes

only good against yasuo because of how cheap it is

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

Dude, it's now the biggest middle finger to Yasuo in the entire game, I'll happily accept it having less health than it did before.

And A Real Hiero1 votes

Ten bans is a bigger middle finger though.

SpecterVonBaren2 votes

I prefer the sadistic pleasure of seeing him doing very little damage as apposed to mercifully banning him outright.
