if your adc is really bad like suiciding alot and ending up 0/5 under 10 minutes an flaming you when you are doing your best as supp , do you leave the bot lane and help others who can actually play ?

As a support, you typically spend the laning phase in bot lane but there are exceptions.

Once the laning phase is over, and people start lane swapping and focusing objectives, you're basically free to roam for the most part. You're the team's support, not the adc's permanent babysitter, so you do what it takes to win. Sometimes that involves hand-holding a bit, other times it means ditching the adc (who should be independent at this point) and helping out in whatever ways will secure victory.

You are very correct; however, as the support you should in fact be guarding and 'babysitting' the carries. Now if Jinx was doing terrible you can instead turn your attention to the APC.

Hmph, I guess my statement was incomplete.

Part of the role is babying a bit, but it's not just the adc is what I'm getting at here.

Early game you babysit the adc, mid game you support the team and roam, late game you perform your role in teamfights which generally involves protecting the carries, engaging/disengaging, and picking out enemies. Depends on the support, obviously.

As support you can roam for sure, but you have to choose the time and the place. Even if she fed a little, by putting her in a 1v2 is really not only screwing her over, but also the rest of your team because you have decided to completely surrender bot lane.

If you leave somebody against fed opponents in a 1v2 lane you're getting the whole enemy team fed. You're giving their botlane free CS and the rest of their team turret gold as well as allowing them to roam once the lane is pushed.... no... don't do this in any case, ever.

if the ennemy bot lane is 5/0 your two turrets are down , your adc just keep raging with other players , ennemy adc has the triple farm of yours , then whats the point staying with that adc and you cant do absolutly nothing to him why stay with that boring adc when you can get free assists helping your mid and top laner ?

PogChampEleGiggl2 votes

You still shouldn't leave because you are giving up an inhibitor and, eventually with your logic, the game. Ask for help or roams from teammates instead of just giving up. It doesn't always have to be a 2v2, let the team know that if your lane can't get ahead then it's lost.

i mean, as a support it's kind of your job to stay bot lane and make sure your incompetent baby doesn't do anything stupid and get themselves killed, but if they really suck THAT BAD i end up roaming a lot and snowball the mid instead. sometimes u just gotta give up on your adc and focus on helping whoever is most likely to carry the game.

ZephyrDrake2 votes

you can leave, don't expect your ADC or your bot turrets to survive long enough for you to make a decent impact (unless you are able to impact whichever lane you go almost instantly). Even then the enemy ADC should be able to 1v1 your ADC with little problem leaving their support to just go wherever you are to prevent you from doing anything impactful... as long as they are not stupid and not stay bot the entire time in which case your inhib turrets might not be long for this world if your jungler doesn't help

That isn't a simple question, despite understanding where you are coming from with the question.

I have had PLENTY of games (I main support) where I will have a terrible adc (not judging, I've had my fair share of games that I am captain sucktastic) and it just frustrates the piss out of me. As a support, you are there to try and help your adc grow in power, but when they are doing poorly, you feel helpless in lane, and it is likely you will suffer for it, or die as well.

I will stay in lane as best I can, and I always have one thing I fall back on in a game if my adc is the actual reason he is doing poorly, and not simply due to getting over camped or a really awesome enemy player. If the adc is making really poor decisions, being impatient, having just terrible positioning (taking tower shots, trying to dive, standing in the middle of an enemy minion wave, etc), then I will stay UNTIL either our tower, or their tower is down. As soon as one of the lane towers fall, I am out of there 100% and I will not return. I've served my tour of duty and this guy is on his own.

That being said, I will try to help and roam a bit more if that person is doing so poorly of no one's fault but their own, but I try not to just abandon someone, because a bad start/laning phase doesn't mean that person won't pick it up after or with a few more items and team fights.

I've known people that are just ass in a can in laning phase for reasons I'm not sure of, then get into team fights and they just carry the team out of nowhere. If you are a support by choice, you can't just choose when to stop supporting someone and write them off, unless they are doing poorly on purpose. If you stick with them and show you are trying to make sure they stay up in the game, they will keep trying as well. Last thing you want is to flame them, or just walk off, because then you have a 0% chance of winning because they will likely get angry, someone else on your team might suddenly side with them etc. It's best to stick it out until you have an out, like what I mentioned with the downed turret.

Looks like this won't go anywhere because some butthurt moron is just downvoting every response.

That's because your comment was dumb as hell to put it bluntly. Seeing as you admitted you will throw a temper tantrum and abandon a game if someone "sucks".

Congrats on being a big baby though in game and on the boards. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

I will straight up leave the game if I have even 1 teammate that sucks. They're the type of prick that don't surrender to un-winnable games.

I see your problem and it isn't your teamates

If bot lane fed, its not the ADC that sucks, its the support. One of the reasons, I'd rather play support bot lane than ADC. I trust myself more to know how to get my ADC fed than I trust some random support to know how to get me fed. Even a shitty ADC can carry when fed.

I'm a ADC main but it's not the support job to always make up for your own mistakes. If you keep dying as adc chances are you're getting out played and just need to own up to it. Support job is to help you win lane but if you suck as adc you suck don't blame the support for mistakes that have nothing to do with them.

However I do get the "I trust myself more to know how to get my ADC fed than I trust some random support to know how to get me fed" logic because most of the time its my support who keeps dying and half the time it only cuz he or she gets caught out.

That's why I'm currently a support main with lux because even if my adc sucks i can still carry hard because I play lux support like lux mid.

Good points. Its not the support's job to cover the ADC's mistakes, however a 4-1 ADC has a lot more leeway for mistakes than one who is even. When I play support, I'm always thinking about ways to get my ADC fed, especially when I play Nautilus, one of my go-to supports. Sona is my best support and I always try to keep my opponents HP low so that my ADC can capitalize on it when they screw up. I find that when my ADC gets at least 2-0 on the opponent, it usually gets easier from there.

The point is that supports seem to have a lot more playmaking potential than marksmen. Its usually supports that decide when someone can die.

In my opinion, leaving the guy on his own would only make it worse.

I've literally reported my own brother over this kind of issue where he got toxic because his adc wasn't doing well, and he would leave lane to roam. Its just stupid. Just do your best and help the poor guy out.

In another way, if the adc is down 0/5, the jungler should at the very least TRY reverting that with a gank or 2.

LF Annie1 votes

you prob got downvoted because a jungler is more effective snowballing an even/ahead lane than trying to salvage a blatantly lost lane.

No I just start taking all the cs and carry.

Erockandroll1 votes

Your best bet is to take over the lane. (I hope you picked a Mage support so that you could.)

If you roam, the enemy will get a free lane, and your team would lose the CS to the tower, which the enemy would likely take. Your only real hope out of that is to build more wave clear items. (Mana regen/cdr/AP) To Put it simply, Hold the lane.

Well I had an ADC in ranked today that couldn't do anything (I don't blame him though, the kennen support was annoying as hell), ao I turned my focus and energy onto our Vel'Koz who's doing well and we won the game. Yeah, if your adc sucks and can't even scale, help another player that can and does well.
