Let's change the Rift Herald
So the other day i had a crazy idea. Instead of 1 rift herald, why not add multiple types of rift herald? Let me explain.
The main issue a lot of people have with league, including myself, is the fact that the game literally revolves around team fighting, mixed with a dash of split pushing. It's not a lot of fun. Especially when literally no one is on the same page. There are 2 objectives. Dragons and Baron. These are the only objectives anyone in the game fights over because they require a team of people to combat. This leads to long, stale matches where you play till late game and pray you win the team fights you need. But there's really no way to come back and no way to play intelligently. On top of that, top lane is a dumpster fire. If you succeed in top lane, Good on you! you literally wasted the last 20 minutes of the game. Either you've fed the enemy so they can literally 1 v 5 your whole team, or you've won enough not to be completely useless. Either way, your time might as well not have happened because their carry is 15/0 with a pyke, Lux/viegar/Zoe/insert annoying midlaner here, a Wukong and Nasus (Hypothetically, obviously). Not a great time. [sg-syndra]
And so you reach late game where that lead everyone else got steam roles past everything and it becomes one shot or be one shot. You try and take baron after a team fight and the Ezreal steals it with his ult and chunks everyone on your team for most of their health. Tell me this hasn't happened to you before, dear reader. And tell me that most of the time, your games are not fun because there is n strategy.
Well i propose this solution: Change the Rift Heralds into the Void Heralds. you could have a few of them, each with their own special effects. But they aren't buffs. No. They affect the environment. For example, the Eye of the Herald could reveal certain bushes on the map for a time, say 2 minutes. If an enemy walks into those bushes, they are pinged automatically. or the Talons of the Herald could rake through larger walls, opening pathways and ganking routes inaccessible before (Unless you main Kayn). or the breath of the Herald and so on and so forth. This would add a new layer of strategy to the game previously unknown. These may not be the most powerful ideas there are, but my point stands. And you'd have to balance them. Maintain the whole weak point idea, without making it nearly as much of a chunk as it currently is. Make them deal lots of damage, so that way someone has to tank it while someone else kills it. And because of these powerful buffs, it would encourage fighting over the objective.
I also believe that, handled properly, this could solve another major flaw: Balance.
In order to make these powerful, you can't really afford to have a character who can deal massive amounts of damage to it. Or else you get what we have now, one person goes off on their own, takes the herald and no one cares. Plus you'd need to actually care about the top laners because they have the greatest ease of access to it.
This idea is flawed and imperfect, and i would love (Constructive) feed back and ideas. But i truly believe that what this game needs is something to fight for. Something to allow early game rush styles to thrive and see success while also supporting late game stall strategies too. (baron wouldn't be gone. He's a staple.) But buffs to champions don't make the game fun. They just make the game more snowbally. [slayer-jinx-catface]
