6 Dorans rengar troll or legit?

Rengar plays top occasionally. Hes not a bad laner because of the bushes and dueling power he has. Ive seen rengars start item 1055 and item 2003 .

If he gets first blood, alright he might buy another item 1055 .

Natural gold over time and CS will grant him one more item 1055 .

Now he has three Dorans Blade which gives his a lot of stats.

One more kill on top of CS and that is two more item 1055 item 1055

now his build will look something like this item 1055 item 1055 item 1055 item 1055 item 1055 item 1001

Or Just 6 Dorans Blades

Can someone explain this to me? I know it is a Lot of HP and Life steal but is this a legit tactic or just cheesy?

After his inventory is maxed out with dorans blades he can buy item 3074 or item 3142 And will still have a few Dorans on the side for the stats they give. Why does this work so well?

IIRC, it was popularized by Ryan Choi (on Rengar) or TheRainMan (on Teemo) so you can probably find their explanations for it somewhere.

I believe the reasoning behind it is that Rengar is a champion who relies on snowballing to be useful. Multiple Doran's Blades give him a lot of combat stats to let him fight and begin snowballing, after which he can insta-gib enemies. In addition, I believe his Q benefits from lifesteal so he heals for more than a lot of autoattackers.

Considering that Rengar can have trouble against a lot of bruisers and tanks in lane, the Doran's Blades let him survive his early game to hit is strong mid-late game.

It's somewhat dated (old Doran's Blades, can't remember if it was before or after the Rengar changes), but there is an explanation here: http://www.reignofgaming.net/forums/rog-user-content/written-work/62710-ryan-choi-his-dorans
