Why don't people pool their gold into one hero?

The most efficient way to win a game is to give one person all the gold or kills isn't it? This creates a superweapon on your team that will demolish the enemy. And no, I actually don't think the adc is the best person to give all the gold to. The marksman is too vulnerable to assassination. I'd give it to someone like Akali, Diana, Irelia, Fizz etc. Someone with 1v5 potential. Someone tanky or slippery.

It's a design flaw inherent in the game that I'll bet people in ranked 5's could exploit to climb like crazy.

because one champ can't be in 3 lanes at the same time while also clearing the jungle.

i heard that dota had a system where you could give your gold from one champion to another. it lasted for exactly one patch because what you said was indeed the best strategy for success but was also zero fun.

if you don't think adc's are appropriate for duo lanes because they don't scale well enough with gold, take into account that they do better with supports than other champion archetypes.

The problem with one person carrying a team is that said single person can be focused down. A 40 kill Fizz is not unstoppable if the enemy team works together properly. On top of that even though Fizz would be far ahead of the enemy team, the entire enemy team will be far ahead of Fizz's allies since they shared the gold.

It works both ways, in order to rocket one player ahead all other players on the team must be left behind. In a team game it is almost always better to lift all members of the team at a steady pace.

No it's not though. That's a misconception because it sounds like it would work, but it doesn't. That one fed guy snowballs the entire team into a position of power. You'd want to give it someone slippery though like Fizz or Irelia who can just 1v5 or escape easily.

Now see, that's a misconception by itself. Having one person who is very fed does not instantly snowball the rest of their team. A fed person can definitely snowball their team members, but they have to actually do it.

Snowballing your team means spending less time growing your own power and instead using your time to grow your allies, which is what the enemy team in my above example would do. I would not consider this being the same as pooling gold onto a single person. It's the difference of one person snowballing four others and four people snowballing a single person. The former is good for team play, where as the latter can actually be a detriment.

It can, but like any strategy, even the one you mentioned, it carries it's own risks. Playing to a specific team comp can give your team a massive advantage. But you have to stick to the comp no matter what and hope the enemy team lacks the tools to disassemble your comp or else they will turn the game around.
