Why is Support Heimerdinger bad?

Hello! Just wondering why people think support Heim is bad? Heimerdinger brings in loads on stuff with his abilities. His passive, give everyone (even champions) some extra HP regen at all time. His Q, allows you to either A. Push lane faster B. Survive gank C. you do such steady damage, without needing to use mana His W, pokes His E, is an AOE stun/blind

For items I get:item 3092 OR item 2301 item 3060 item 3512 then, if we have a mage somewheres, I getitem 3001 , the last 2 items I get are item 3116 item 3157

And yes, I do get enough gold (Late Game only) To buy all of these items.

This is basically what every support needs, a stun/blind, a poke, and a heal. With items that help push lane, and slow enemies. so why isn't support heimerdinger a thing! I play him all the time, when I have someone who has done "okay" as an ADC before, that way, we can push lane crazy fast. You can also put you turrets in bushes, that way if the ADC (Like Draven) goes all in they die. Another good thing about heimerdinger, is that late game, his 'R' 'W' on to the enemy ADC, will usually get it down half health, this way your team can finish them off. If you use 'R' 'E' you can either escape OR trap your enemies so they can't escape. And if you 'R' 'Q' Then you deal a bunch of damage in the middle of a team fight.

B. Steal lots of cs

not if you put it in a bush, then you dont get any CS. Also, if your ADC, is good, he/she will get the CS even with your turrets hitting minions.

  • Takes CS
  • Provides no Peel
  • Requires setup which doesn't help in teamfights away from the setup
  • Almost always forces the wave to be pushing to the enemy team
  • Almost never builds a sightstone, so the team lacks vision

Because of your lack of control over your turret, you'll end up messing your ADC's CS way too much so neither you nor the ADC gets CS. Other than that, he has a conditional stun. My best bet for your turrets is to plant them in the river lane as quasai wards. Other than that his kit doesn't feel very supporty. I have been wrong before today though.

In terms of turret control. I think Zyra just does it better. Her plants don't really steal CS because a) they prioritize champs and b) they have relatively short lifespans. And yet Zyra compensates for that with more plants in general.

It's not that heimerdinger support is necessarily bad, it's that heimerdinger is much more effective as a top or mid laner and other support champions can do what he does as a support better. For example, Zyra fulfills the zone control role much better than heimer, has easier cc to hit, and doesn't steal cs as often with her plants. If you want the HP regen there are supports with much better sustain who fulfill that role.

Probably the biggest reason why I wouldn't want a heimer as my support though is it auto pushes the lane. As an ADC I want to control when I Freeze the lane and when I push the lane. With heimer it's impossible to freeze the lane which makes you more susceptible to ganks and makes it harder to exploit a lead.

it isn't about having "loads of stuff" its about what you can do.

Heimer: P: 10-30 HP/5 Fairly weak compared to a champion with a shield to block damage or a heal that can restore more Q: Turrets auto push lane, keeping your lane at the enemy tower which leaves you open to ganks or being zoned from CS W: Just raw damage no real utility E: a small slow or stun R: Q and W are just raw damage. E is the only thing that could be useful but it still doesn't provide much.

it's not that its bad. it's that there are different champions which do that job better for that role

Your 'Q' pushes BUT it also leaves the enemy ADC from getting CS. Also, if your ADC is smart, when ganked, they will fall back to the turrets. Plus, if you put it in the back bush, (Your 3 turrets) Or in a line right in front of your turret, you don't push out. Thus giving your ADC full Freezing and pushing ability.

Thank you for fast response. Even if I don't like them very much :D

In addition to the other points mentioned, there's the problem of turrets just being too easy to kill. If the enemy adc picks up early crit, the turrets can easily die to one AA, maybe 2. I believe that relic shield also executes them, so tank supports can shrug off most of their damage and kill them in one hit if the turret lost hp from minion fire or incidental aoe.

I would imagine the best placement would be two at the river opening and one at the near end of the enemy lane bush. But if they can clear them quickly, you're basically a sitting duck and super weak to any hard engage. Leona or Ali would just shit on you constantly.

If you're determined to make it work, it would probably work best with Cait or Jhin. Especially Cait since her goddam cancer trap spam could protect your turrets, give them time to do damage, and let you chain cc with your stun bomb. With Jhin, I think you'd have less control but more kill potential if you react quickly to his root with a stun and RQ at 6.

I duo and when my adc is okay with taking some cs I play him and we end up reking a lot of bot lanes and me doing either top or top 3 damage- but that could be just my elo... I end up taking about 4-5 cs and in the end of the game I still have like 20 cs altogether, more or less. I have that much with sona or nami too. I think it works well if the enemy team doesn't know much about this cheese or know about it but don't know how to rek heim
