Lowkey i think boots should be removed from the game

and everyone given compensation buffs.

like maybe its just me but boots out side of mob's and swifti's feel really boring. none of them give true spikes like other complete items do, i mea yeah completing your sorcs or lucids help alot, but it doesnt feel like an item spike imo. and considering that people sometimes just throw out boots late game for a 6th item doesnt feel great. its just means you are now slower and easier to kite since enemies still have boots, but at the same time you have a 6th item that helps you do whatever it is you need to do.

imo boots need a rework or a to be removed

it has been reasoned multiple times by riot about what function they serve in league

also champions DO spike with boots Kindred with zerkers all mages with sorcs All cdr based champs can compensate lacking cdr with lucidity riven/vlad for example all roaming supports benefit from mobis junglers like elise and ivern benefit from mobis Swifties were really important (remember the slows/mobility meta)

Boots are integral to the balance and viability of the champions Boots round up builds Boots make builds function not only due to mobility Boots offer a choice late game: do you want the mobility or the 6th item Boots are often worth the slot even in late game

So please explain to me how you will balance 150 champions with stats for something that is worth a full item slot even through late game

This is gonna get downvoted to oblivion because it questions a longtime convention, but I agree and you can have my upvote.

That would mean people would buy an extra damage item, or a defensive item to make their glass cannon build even harder to shut down.

Boots give nice transitions, like tabis early against auto attackers, or merc vs CC heavy lanes, you dont FEEL them like for example ludens or IE, but they arent suppose to.

It also means that if people want 6 damage items they have to give up that movespeed and unique passives.

I could see a universe where this idea would work.. but I'm not sure how I'd feel about just giving everyone the bonuses tied to boots for free.

What would you do for champions that might build differently depending upon the situation? Alistar for example usually will take item 3117 but I personally tend to prefer to take something more beefy like item 3047 or item 3111

Sure, allowing a 6th slot in the inventory without any repercussions (no boots) arguably gives champions more room to decide on their build path but at the same time I feel like it runs into the same issue that exists with people wanting a slot specifically for item 2055... that cost / benefit dilemma allows for player decision in which stats and bonuses they feel are most important for their situation. You could argue the same thing exists with boots. (Do I sell boots to buy another item or do I keep the extra mobility found in boots...)

Just food for thought.

Also: What would you do to make boot purchases (other than ones that grant you tons of speed) feel more satisfying? I notice a fairly large difference when I get item 3006 over when I don't for example, but you seem to not really feel the impact of boots all that much. Do they need some sort of really unique bonus like item 4001?

The biggest reason I don’t agree with getting rid of boots, OP, is because not all champions start off with the same base movement speed.

There are champions that start out with 325 movement speed, there are champions that start out with 330, some even start at 335. Removing boots would give those champions with higher base movement speed an early advantage (albeit a very small one.)

Some champions have abilities that passively increase movement speed like Janna while some have passives that grant increased movement speed like Vayne what do you do with those abilities to prevent a meta centered around champions with higher base/early movement speed? I know the variables are very small but it is still an advantage nonetheless.

What would you do about supports who roam to ward/assist other lanes? What about the importance the Cloud Drake suddenly provides early game?

Getting rid of boots, while it has its arguments in favor of it, would require quite abit of tweaking with certain champions, their passives, abilities, etc.

Just my opinion.
