A Conclusion about League and Riot (Not QQ)

I've concluded I'm going to have to be done after this season.

This is NOT a Riot QQ. In fact I think they're doing a great job with their game and it's not my place to tell them how to do things. Clearly they're super successful so more power to them.

Recently after reading a lot on Reddit and on here I've had to conclude that the direction Riot is taking their game is just not the direction that I am wanting to follow and enjoy. As I said above, it's their game and I think they will continue to be wildly successful and wish them the best.

However, the type of champions and game play Riot has been supporting and producing lately simply isn't what I loved about League. After playing since Beta I think it's time for me to stop playing (at least on a regular basis) and move on.

I simply do not enjoy the hyper mobility and "out play" champions that Riot does. Nor do I enjoy champions having kits that can react to most any situation as a great number of the recent champs have. I think the majority of players do and that Riot does therefore it's a super smart move for them to continue on this path but this old timer of League doesn't like it.

I personally enjoy when champs have long CD's on very impactful abilities that if they mess it up cost them huge. Either me or my enemy. I like when mobility is expensive and you pay heavily for it in your power budget and when abilities are costly so you must be judicious in using them. Maybe I'm incorrect but this doesn't feel like the direction things are going and I find myself getting more and more frustrated each patch as more mobility, more %life damage and less CD's or resource costs continue to flood the game.

I've observed that I am becoming no longer compatible with League... BUT... that League is getting bigger and better than ever. So instead of continuing to QQ about it I think the best thing to do (and hopefully others will do the same) is to just let Riot do what they know best and for me to back off and let them continue making a successful game while realizing it just may not be for me anymore. Lord knows I've done my share of QQ in the past but I think this is a better way to go.

Keep kicking ass Riot, I'll be playing now and then still and am thankful for all you've been doing for E-sports.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but let me see if I can sum this up correctly.

Basically you are upset that Riot is expanding their game and as they do this through champions/items/jungle/meta continuously. And because of this you are fed up that the game you once knew is gone, and aren't about to bother trying to adapt anymore. Tbh man, that's basically like saying that everyone should stay at an elementary level education and not evolve in any way shape or form because that is just when we have the most fun in life and have no worries. I would have quit this game long ago if all they did was create the same style of champion from the beginning of their inception... It would have become stagnant long ago, change is mandatory in a game like this and is what keeps it moving forward, as you stated. And the fact that you created this post to point out your displeasure with League's direction, and also praise it for generally the same thing just makes me wonder if there was a legitimate point in anything you said other than to gain attention for quitting after all these years. I dont even know why I replied, just read "Not QQ" and interpreted a large portion of your post as "QQ" as well as an attention grab and just kind of annoyed me, my apologies if Im wrong but best of luck to you if you really are going to quit

I'm saying it's not for me man. I'm not saying they're doing a bad job or that they should stop doing it. I'm not saying anything they're doing is wrong at all. I'm saying that it isn't for me.

I don't have the time in my schedule to "evolve" with the game anymore. I played before in college when I had a lot more time. I guess maybe it is "qq" but i didn't think that observations that weren't complaining were QQ. It's THEIR GAME. They are right to move it in this direction and SHOULD. I just am not able to move with them.

Also, yeah it is to draw attention to it. Because I've seen LOTS of people mad about the same thing and I think it is pointless to be mad. They're moving this direction and it's working...so the right thing to do is just back away and let them work.

LASTLY (sorry for 3 replies, just thinking) I always thought of QQ as a sort of crying/yelling at Riot, perhaps I have a wrong concept of the term. I'm not FULLY quitting, it's a game that I've supported for years and will continue to play off and on. I think it's silly when people are all "I"M DONE FOREEVER EFF YOU RITO!" I'm just admitting I am not evolving with the game and saying in what ways I'm not evolving.

I actually REALLY LIKE the item changes they've made recently for the record.

Riot will lose many players due to the Dunkey incident.

Not gonna lie... only heard about the guy because of "the incident".

God forbid an extremely toxic player gets banned for a few days.

What I wrote had nothing to do with Dunkey haha. He told someone to kill themselves or like that he wanted them to die or something right? That's NOT OK haha That dude NEEDS BAN for saying that.

However the guy who was trolling his game needs ban as well.

I didn't post that comment as a reply to your comment, but to Raptamei. But I do agree with you. People are going insane about his ban that was around a week because his "character is toxic" and that he advertises League of Legends.

Inb4 mlg riot montages take over... can't wait for dash the chargekin to have dashing montages with his 2 second global dashes or whatever else is fun....

Sarcasm aside. It's getting ridiculous. But I'm part of the minority who feels that way, riot will make money and grow, and life will continue with or without my support
