Dear People who run away when Shen ults them
You are the worst kind of people.
You are the worst kind of people.
People that run when they get a Zil ult are worse.
Sometimes you need to back-off to survive long enough for Shen to finish his ultimate and join the fight.
Staying near enemies to give Shen a good taunt doesn't mean much if you die before he finished channeling it.
Saying something like that without giving any circumstances isn't better either.
(For example: Why should I stay in a
ult just because shen ults me?)
I wish Shen's ult had some sort of icon that flashed on the screen when it happened. I hear the BONG SHHHIIIINNNGGGGG, but it's actually really hard for me to see the purple shield because it's kind of faint around the edges, and especially if other effects are going off, so I'm not sure if he's ulting me or someone else. On top of that, I might look to my health bar to look for shield health and by that point the shield may have been blown off so I'm not even sure if he ult'd me or what.
If Shen was more common outside of his recent spike in play as support and top again, I think it would be easier to recognize
This is why i just don't play shen, it isn't worth the risk
As someone who plays Shen, I'm only bothered by this when it's apparent they can nab a kill or when we have a chance to win a fight. If it's clear they're going to die otherwise then I want them to survive and get out of there. Sure, I'd like to Taunt for a kill, but I'd rather save my laner then tell them to go back with 10HP as I try to Taunt them. I've seen a lot of players survive from my ult, I am there and forcing their laner back, then they turn around with 10HP and get one-shotted because they think I can save them a second time.
I stopped playing Yorick just because people almost everyone ran away after my ult revived them. It was cringe worthy every time, like watching a failed wall flash. I liked playing Yorick =.= but just couldn't deal with my fed carries running away after they already died.
You as the Shen should be pinging to help navigate your team for what you want, if they still don't they either can't due to cooldowns or don't agree with your plan.
To be fair, there are some circumstances where it's more appropriate to run away for Shen's ultimate than to stay and fight.
The most prominent of these situations are when Shen ults you to keep you from dying and you will die if you stay, or Shen ults you because he is caught out of position and is using his ultimate to escape. In these situations, staying or going in are significantly worse than running away.
Well, there's situations where you're right and situations where you're wrong. Say a teamfight breaks out mid lane, and you (being
) ult the ad carry that got caught out. Because they got caught out, they're probably going to be relatively low health, and a Shen ult (at least until 3 ranks) isn't really going to do much for them. If the ad carry runs back in at a quarter or so health, they're not gonna survive long enough for that Shen ult to be really useful.
Here's where you do engage. You (as the ad carry) got caught splitting bot by the enemy support and jungler. You use your escape and gain some distance on them without taking damage, but they're gaining on you. Your friendly Shen ults you---what do you do? You get back in there, because when Shen finally gets there, you'll still have enough health to be a threat while Shen takes all the aggro for you with his taunt and shield. Running in that situation would just be super dumb cause you essentially wasted your ally Shen's ult for him. It's kinda wrong to say that people that run when a Shen ults you are the worst kinda people when there are multiple situations that can change what the best choice is to do with that ult.
If I have 10 HP and Shen ults me, I am grateful for him saving my butt, although I am not gonna charge back into the fray
Dear Shen player who doesn't understand I can die whilst being Shen ulted, "you are the worst kind of people."
I stopped playing Shen because people would use my ult as an excuse to do stupid stuff, like 1v5 the enemy team.
I try to tell my team to get into taunt range when I ult onto them, and also throw out an assist ping onto my intended taunt target while ulting. It sometimes helps.
I will admit to running away. I'm honestly not used to a) playing with Shen and b) being the one getting ulted (I usually play tanks) that I'm confused about where the shield is coming from and keep running. I've gotten pretty good at not running when Zilean ults me, though, so that's good.
I try to correct myself when I notice shen ulting me, sometimes even flashing toward them, but usually the enemy starts running away too. :(
I've been know to try and put shen players in the worst possible position when they ult me. It's like walling your own team as Anivia or trundle, it's just the rules of the game. You don't grab lanterns, and you should always Javan ult your whole team inside a little box.
Idk this is more situational, if you are really low you're supposed to run and hop back if guaranteed safety, but then again it really depends. So you are wrong.
I'm sorry. :( I just never play with a Shen and I'm not used to seeing him ult me. I think there should be a screen indicator similar to how when Zilean ults you your whole HUD lights up.
Dear Shens who ult bad players who feed their lane and then run away when you ult them:
Just don't ult them. Let me keep crushing them and you can go help the teammates that know what to do when they get a free 500000HP shield and are about to have a friendly tank literally appear right next to them.
Sincerely,
Your friendly neighborhood

Sometime, when I ult as Shen, I want my teamate to be save and run to safety because he is attack, for example, by 3 members of the enemy team. I do not like when that teamate continue to go in 1 v 3 ( 2 vs 3 ) when he is low health. That will make a 1 v 3 again for ... Me. -_-' I am happy in this case that Shen has a dash. XD
Amen.
I'm a Shen main and those people are my biggest pet peeve.
This is why while he is very strong in coordinated play I often find him really mediocre in solo queue. Even playing him on occasion it's a lot harder to know and and ult in time when someone needs it when there is no real time communication and then when you do... have them not respond to it and then you just waste it.
