It took me 5 seasons to grind out all of the champs...

Stop acting like the new system is any worse so we can go back to complaining that damage is too high.

Edit: Some players are saying they did it faster... Well that is great! I'm glad you didn't have to experience trying to grind out 6300 every two weeks for the new champ that came out. I'm also glad that you could get the IP reduction, and the loot boxes to help you out.

I paid 1500 on 43 more champs for 64,500 more IP... 1650 on 8 for 13,200 1800 on 10 for 18,000 900 on 7 for 6,300 That totals 85,800 more IP or 13.6 New champions...

Lets not forget the IP I sunk into runes I had purchased every T3 rune which totaled 388,071

That totals 473,871 IP (75 champions worth) that The newer members will never have to spend. Another way to look at that number assuming 100IP/Game is 4738 games...

Yup. IP progress was always abysmal. 74 ip for a 20 min win. The new system is a lil' more gimmicky but does offer opportunities if you get shards you like. No longer have to buy runes either.

Maybe if anything the system is too first win oriented. Purely for currency gains not much point to play anything but a 15 min co op stomp. And it always was, but now more than before actually. It's silly how much extra play it takes to do twice three or four times the first win of the day.

First win of the day is good. But maybe there should be something for people who play more in one day a few days a week rather than a little everyday (those have the advantage). I thought about streak bonus but I think the safest thing really is to offer... "third win of the day." What might make more sense is a second and third win of the day which get smaller than the previous perhaps. Or 2nd and 3rd are smaller than first but the same size.

Some people might find the potential extra competitiveness a drawback though. And others a plus.

Oddly they also slightly closed the gap between the difference of winning versus losing. Just a side note.

Maybe simply give a little boost of xp if you played 5 game a day or something like that, something so people feel they aren't "hold back" when they have a long day session of LOL.

Everyone, they've posted the math several times now. Players gain more BE than they gained in IP, they don't have to spend on runes anymore, and using shards for champ discounts further increases the rate at which you can get champions.

I took an average of 20 games pre patch. I got 117 IP per game. New system I have been averaging about 75 BE.

I think your math is bad but you're being incredibly vague so I have nothing to double check. If you look at the charts in the threads I linked, players at pretty much any possible rate of play will be doing better.

It is less at my rate of play and will continue to decrease as i reach high lvls however...

not anymore, xp requirements for level up will reset to the same value after every milestone, and at the milestone you get a bigger bonus chest to make up for the level slowdown preceding it.

None of their math is 'perfect world scenario', all the situations are very reasonable and they give worst case calculations in addition to the odds of those occurring.

Even the worst case calculations were better than the old system for casual rates of play and they had like a 0.002% chance of occurring.

There was a bug that gave increased ip before the patch. It started in october I think. If you compare the ip you got from before the bug, you will see that BE amounts are higher than the ip amounts.

Glory ln Death1 votes

It was the last patch before preseason. Also, the BE rates may not be better, even taking that into account, until you hit a milestone level.

I think a better idea would be a "Win 10 games this week" mission.

Players who would play a little every day would have no trouble squeezing a couple wins more, while players who tend to ignore the game during the week then spam in on the weekends would still have another reward to look forward to.

The FEEL of the system is bad if you lose a match you get a tiny amount of XP and nothing else same goes for winning but more XP it takes around 12-15 games to level up and when you actually level up just remember that there is a possibility of getting all 90 BE shards i think they changed that i'm not absolutely sure. Also someone actually did the math in a previous post if you scroll down in the boards you will see it. That it will take 300-400 levels to get all the champs and thats not even considering new champs it was ridiculously insane. There was another post where someone clearly stated all the flaws in the system which led them to make a change to the buy-able mystery champion thats in the store.

People don't care about what you get when you level up its about what you get going there and thats nothing right now except for XP. You have all the champs that took you 5 seasons of constant playing? or on and off? so you can't make a statement for everyone else who didn't buy every champ or recently hit level 30.

You may have forgotten that the older players paid 6300 for more of the champs. We didn’t have this every time a new champ comes out one gets reduced. I also purchased every single rune including Christmas and Halloween runes, which took up a lot of IP budget.

aZ3R0n1 votes

Yeah, runes. Like the tier 1 and 2 runes I bought at full price and got zero compensation for. And those energy regen runes that worked so well on all those energy champs out there. And the max health runes that I bought for maybe one or two champions who could actually benefit from them. And attack speed runes and quints for every slot possible because Movement Speed Jhin is perfection.

Still have only 30 champions left to unlock. IP boosts were great during the bonus IP weekends for 5 man premades.

ModCaptainMårvelous1 votes

Yes and no.

A long long LONG time ago (We're talking S1), sometimes new champs would come out at lower than 6300. In fact, I think the 4800 price pool started with Trundle or J4. Around mid-S2 or early S3, they changed it so every single champion came out at 6300. To compensate, they mass-reduced costs for some of the oldest champs while some 6300 fell to 4800.

These days, however, I don't feel discounts come fast enough. With Riot slowing down new releases of champs (You're at best getting 4-6 a year) it'll take decades for the majority price to drop. On the plus side, that means more 6300 shards. Which means more BE for you.

GigglesO1 votes

I counted the price reduced to 4800 champs according to the wiki there are 43 price reduced to that price. That is still a considerable difference in IP value.

LordGeovanni1 votes

that mass reduction happened in season 4 or 5

Takaray6 votes

Agree, I been playing off and on since Season 4 and I only have like 70 champions. People doesnt realize that their currency gain will be about the same it's just that their rewards are delayed and concentrated as opposed to dripping. This is particularly true for people like me, I barely play 1 or 2 games every day or two so to me the value of Win of the Day went drastically up ergo my income went drastically up lol

Sewer Side5 votes

So you're complaining they changed the name from IP to BE?

That seems trite

TrikzterzArma4 votes

No, I'm complaining because it isn't good. If you want to buy Akali, and get 3149 BE after you leveled up, you have to play another 10 games to get the BE you need. Is that good?

I'm really fucking sick of the cucks in this community that are literally complaining that free content isn't free enough and these fucking shitlords and their "math" that "proves" that it will take a new player to get up to level 360 or whatever to get all the champs. Guess what, I WOULD PROBABLY BE ABOUT LEVEL 500 BY NOW IF THE LEVEL CAP WAS OPEN SINCE I STARTED. Stop fucking complaining and use some sense.

Thanks for this OP, you have restored a bit of my faith in this community.

Not in the same words, but I pretty much agree with this. I’ve been playing since the release of Khazix and still don’t own 4 of the champs. Pretty sure I’d be well over level 400 by now.

LordGeovanni1 votes

ive also been playing since the release oh either Khazix or elise which ever came first but i got every champion in season 4 but in my sliding off of the game and multiple times of my computer being down i had to catch up again which i did before kalista and rakan came out then again after those kayn

Gwendolem3 votes

I have been playing for 6 years and don't own all the champs. What do people honestly expect? There are double the amount of free rotation, you can now get champs for 20% less BE than before, and if you played league AT ALL before this update... you got a butt load of BE. nobody NEEDS to own all 130 some champs. Save BE and buy a champ when you like em. OTHERWISE, cough up money. It has always been a patient game.

Kloqdq3 votes

Same here. I started when Zac was released, so near the end of season 3 and it too me to roughly about season 5-6 to get all the champions. However, I bought several of them AND I played a LOT of games over that time. Depending on how much you play and other facts, it will take a lot time almost no matter what you do.

Escheton3 votes

Yeah, but you don't need all champs. For Ranked you mostly need your main(s), a counterpick or two. And something for off-roles. For ARAM you probably don't even want all champs. Free week allows you to play everything eventually. So you know what to spend your precious BE on, also.

Now, it's nice to own all champs to get more access to mastery chests, but thats a free bonus.

Meep Man3 votes

Hey, someone who is actually looking at past experience and comparing it to now. Amazing.

I have been playeing for 4 years and I don't even have all the champs yet.

Althougth and important part of the problem is that I don't want all the champs, since I know I will never use all them. For example, I'm terrible with asassins, so I won't buy them.

Mazariamonti1 votes

Yeah I've been playing quite a bit for about four years now and I still don't have all of the champions. I have everyone I want and enough currency to buy whatever new ones come out, but it's not like it was a fast process before.

SociopathFriend1 votes

I thought of making a similar thread myself but I don't know what season I for sure started to make the comparison. I know I was playing during the perma-ban period of Kassadin but beyond that it's fairly up in the air. I still don't have all the champions either.

Granted, I've only got about 10 left I think, several of which I don't think I'll be purchasing as I have no interest in some of them. However, I know for sure if the xp system existed previously- I'd be a long ways from 30 by now.

13900 Essence1 votes

It took me one season, but I did spend a decent amount of cash to do so.

Apparently you do get more IP (now BE) than before, but the main issue is that you can't see any visible progress until you level up which makes people upset.

My only big complaint is that they removed champ rerolling. Old players getting the new champs for 1-2k less IP isn't a good enough reason to remove a functionality for every player in the game.

GigglesO1 votes

Well its actually because you would just RR 3 shards worth 90-200... and get a 6300 champion...

They forgot to scale the BE on champ shards up enough (to let us keep RR) because they wanted to push through more of them...

Back then they weren't worth only 90-200 as well though, they were worth much more.

Still not the greatest of reasons though, it was RNG whether you got high cost champs or not, unless you were to buy every single lower cost one. If they don't like RNG, then they shouldn't have made the mini icon boxes and mystery ward/icons available again.

I agree, I don't think this system is actually worse though, I think it just merely feels worse, and doesn't give as many benefits to people that own more.

Yeah it feels really fucking bad as someone with all of the current champs but not enough BE for new ones.

and we got what 20k for it? :(

GigglesO1 votes

I got 120k IP refund for having all of the runes... I never saw anything for the champ reductions though. To be fair, riot also used to hand out more free boosts in the form of "I fucked up here is a free IP boost". The game had alot more downtime, and glitches as well though.
