https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ressentiment

Ressentiment, in philosophy and psychology, is one of the forms of resentment or hostility. It is the French word for "resentment". Ressentiment is a sense of hostility directed at that which one identifies as the cause of one's frustration, that is, an assignment of blame for one's frustration. The sense of weakness or inferiority and perhaps jealousy in the face of the "cause" generates a rejecting/justifying value system, or morality, which attacks or denies the perceived source of one's frustration. This value system is then used as a means of justifying one's own weaknesses by identifying the source of envy as objectively inferior, serving as a defense mechanism that prevents the resentful individual from addressing and overcoming their insecurities and flaws. The ego creates an enemy in order to insulate itself from culpability.

Doesn't really matter what rank you are, and not everyone holds this affect, but I see people bronze, silver, all the way up to diamond with this mentality. (not surprisingly, however, I rarely see diamonds rage at /blame their teammates, while the behavior is rampant amongst bronze, silvers, golds, and plats) It;s the more psychological explanation that goes alongside the age-old advice "don't rage at your teammates; focus on your mistakes only and improving your own gameplay"

Just sharing this in case someone finds it helpful. Really though, this is so much more important to apply (or not apply, heh) to your real life; although ridding yourself of this mindset will help you climb the league ladder.

That's a symptom, not the cause. The problem, as you get lower in the ranks, is that less people research and test champions before ranked. Blame, unfortunately, is sometimes required. The issue is, if you think you're doing the right thing, you're not receptive. And Blame often is "Yi, wtf?" not "Caitlin, you're build path is wrong and you're losing trades because of it. Get BT next."

Even when the latter is optioned, it's rarely adhered to. If you think 1 point of AD = 2 points of AS then why are you going to listen to a guy in game?

I know for me until I admitted the problem was me I was not able to achieve a new level of play. Yea I suck but I managed to get out of bronze my first season fairly easily. Then I kept doing things my way and got silver 2 or 3 but I could never get passed them because I stopped trying to learn and just blamed others. After I finally started looking internally and started learning again was I finally able to achieve gold. I realize its not the greatest achievement but it was something I always wanted to achieve.

Whatever your peak is at some point you have to admit that "hey others have gotten a higher rank and I haven't why internally is that?". And then you can either keep doing what your doing or try and change it up and become better and potentially rank up higher.

good point. I suppose my point still stands that this symptom is only allowed to exist by the one exhibiting it

another issue is people giving unwarranted/incorrect advice. I played a game yesterday, my team kept back pinging me because they thought i would die. I didn't die, but I did take 2 nexus towers. I ended the game 12-0-20 or so while each member on my team had at minimum 6 deaths.

so people are very opposed to criticism , even when it's justified and correct, when they would learn from it. Yet they have no problem spewing out nonsense that they believe is correct
