I lose MORE games vs yi now that he is forced out of tank build

Mainly because im in the elo where people dont quite understand that yi can be CC'd. But NOW he shreds our entire team of NO tanks and for some reason NO ONE even tries to CC him.

You need to ban Yi at lower elos. There are some champions that you should never consider banning on higher elo but are actually good bans on lower elo. Examples include Master Yi, Katarina, Fizz (although this one is actually a decent ban on higher elos) and even Volibear.

The reason for that is because bronze-silver meta and high elo/pro play meta are completely different metas. You should not necessarily ban a champion just because it has been a prominent pick-ban on LCS/MSI/worlds, unless this champion is also strong at your elo (this is why I never banned Mordekaiser last year at my elo even though he was a 100% pick/ban at worlds).

At bronze/silver elos, the strongest champions are the ones who can faceroll and take advantage of player's lack of experience, and do not have a high skill ceiling. Those champions are not usually as strong in higher elos because players have enough experience not only to deal with them even during their strongest phases, but also to prevent them from snowballing to begin with.

That's why I ban Katarina whenever I play on my smurf. However, I would never ever consider banning her at my main account unless I am playing an alternative mode (Katarina is actually broken in alternative modes like URF or Hexakill)
