Need some help with Mordekaiser

I've been playing bot lane quite a lot with a friend of mine that usually plays , and I must say that I find it really amusing to play. It's really unique, you gain extra benefit for securing the objectives (minions, dragon) and overall feels like a total monster to play as... as long as you bring your slave support along with you.

I am conflicted on whether to choose between or My build usually looks like this

I've been doing some testing with the two items, and it appears that sterak's is just above gunblade in terms of dps, but that's if you mix in trinity procs at the right moment. Sterak's also appears to be a lot cheaper, but doesn't offer the burst/slow that gunblade has, while sterak's has some nice survivability.

My question is simply; what item is more efficient to build? Should I prioritize the extra burst and slow, or go for more dps and survivability?

I don't play bot lane Morde too much, so what I'm about to tell you might be completely useless. While playing top lane Morde, I rush gunblade all the time. The item provides AP and AD (Morde benefits from both), more healing that's actually noticeable (which is nice since you can heal even more while the passive negates damage), a slow (we all know Morde can always use extra CC from items), and a long range point-and-click active that does enough damage to actually matter.

Now I don't build steraaks every game, but it is very helpful on him, especially since it gives you another shield allowing you to build your passive up until the shield is out which is my main reason for getting it usually.

So to answer your question of which one to prioritize, I would say gunblade. Like I said, this is comeing from a toplane Morde player though where I'm fighting mostly close ranged champs.
