Can we reduce the stun and set-up time of Ekko's W?

He's still played in the jungle and never id even after the base nerfs and scaling buffs. If his stun was more reliable but the duration was shortened I really feel like he would move back to the mid lane. Another idea is lowering the ap on his passive slightly and giving his q m ore speed on the way back, it's literally impossible to hit your q two times if the enemy as any idea what they're doing; the q the first time does no damage as well.

Those are the main reasons why Ekko's forced into the jungle and gets shit on in lane. He can't reliably proc his passive against ranged champions and his stun might as well be uselses until 40 minutes of the game. sure it's used as a zoning tool and that's nice but i guarantee like 3% of all w's thrown landed a stun. You said he's supposed to be a skirmishing assassin, right now he's a sticky tank zoning bot stuck in the jungle where his real home is mid lane.

Come on riot, lets see SOMETHIN happen.

Uh... If I play Ekko, I'm mid or top, never jungle, and I do great, even against ranged people. You just need to know how to play Ekko to do well with him, he's not a braindead champ like the majority are -- you need to be good to do well. ^^

i'm not one to bring rank into this, but you aren't even ranked. people who play competitively and really want to win vs normal games are a big difference. Ekko gets especially shit on top lane, as well as mid like I've said.

EDIT: Not to mention the fact that in the pro scene whenever he's picked he's exclusively played in the jungle full tank

You don't have to be ranked to know how a champion works. I don't have to be ranked to play against ranked people (say hello to sealclubbers!), and I don't have to be ranked to know that you're wrong. Learn to play the champ well, and you can do well in lane. He's not a click to win champ like a lot of them are, you actually have to know what you're doing and how to exploit his strengths.

I honestly don't care what the "pros" do. If you think they're infallible, well, you need a reality check.

I GANK LANES1 votes

that's great but you're wrong, lol. so are you saying you're better than the pros? tell me why they play ekko in the jungle as a full tank rather than mid lane. enlighten me

Niyumi1 votes

Why? Well, that's easy; it's because they're lazy. To lane with Ekko takes a bit of effort, and you actually have to be good at the game to do it (meaning you can't rely on itemization and auto attacks, which is just so terrible). A lot of the "pros" out there aren't really all that great, if you watch them play; they just abuse itemization and then call themselves good. Mechanically (and skill-wise) they're rather average.

Ekko is perfectly capable of laning without his W and, in fact, I rarely even use it unless I'm trying to be fancy. If you roll before throwing your grenade (If you look at the telegraph, you'll see that it's skinny, and then widens a bit. Try to hit them right where it starts to open up. Makes it a LOT harder to dodge), you'll land both hits, and then just teleport to them and run away with your MS steal. Bam, you just traded with anyone in lane, regardless of how much range they have. You don't need to stunlock people to lane well. After poking a few times, they'll hide under their tower with low health, and if you're 6+, you can just do the same trick again and tower dive, then R to safety.

Thing is, even if your W was faster, it still has a VERY readable animation (both by Ekko and on the ground), so it's easily dodged if you have half a brain. A GOOD Ekko will use his W either from out of vision, or he'll drop it where he knows the target will be when it lands. But really, again, you don't need to stun people to win. I find that the shield is a LOT more useful than the stun aspect of it anyway.

The only tank item you build on Ekko is a ROA. After that, you build pure AP and CDR, and you've got yourself a really strong champ. ^^

Ring + 1 of each pot > Rush a ROA (I usually get mine at ~10-12m) > CDR boots (Alacrity) > Hat > Lichbane > Morello or Nashor's, depending on if you need Grievous or more burst > Sell the ring and buy Luden's.

because they're lazy? the professional league players are lazy and that's why they don't use ekko mid? you lost all credibility right there

and i know how to play ekko, i don't know why you're trying to explain it to me

See, here's the thing. "Pro" players aren't in it for the game, no, they're in it for the money. Why would they take the time to learn a harder champion to play (who, arguably, does very well in a lot of situations) when they could play something easier like Vayne, Azir, Thresh or something along those lines, where most of your damage just comes from clicking / most of your kit is very easy to use? It's a lot safer to play an easy champion that you know performs well than a hard champion that takes real effort to perform with. So they're partially lazy, and partially way too worried about money when playing video games (honestly, they should just get a real job). Thing is, I've laned with Ekko, and I've jungled with Ekko. Both ways work, but he's a far better laner than a jungler, imo.

Well, I mean, if you're telling me that he's not viable in lane, then no, I don't really think you do know how to play him. Sorry. : /

because they **train ** daily and want to win, pros have some degree of mastery with most if not all champions

Niyumi1 votes

The whole concept of "training" honestly just makes me laugh.

"...some degree of mastery..." does not mean they're good at every champ though. They can play them at the basic level, but they're not necessarily good. Ekko is one of those champs who needs a lot of practice to get down, you can't just learn the basics and say you know how he works.

I GANK LANES1 votes

iwilldominate admitted he played ekko like 10 times when he jungled with him and stomped the other team, lol. again you lose credibility pulling "facts" out your ass

Niyumi1 votes

It's easy to "stomp" people with any tank. Look at Garen, Darius, Cho, etc. I'd like to see him "stomp" the enemy team built like an AP assassin -- that's when he has to be good, and can't just eat damage, by the way.

I GANK LANES1 votes

i'm done arguing with you, lol. you're one of the most ignorant people ive ever talked to on the boards

Niyumi1 votes

I think the real issue is that you just don't have anything to back up your arguments. ^^

I've started playing Ekko quite a bit AP mid lane, and his W isn't that hard to land. If your opponent is playing passively you just need to figure out their pattern of movement and plan ahead, and the same if they constantly initiate. His Q isn't that hard to land on either proc if you know how to control the movement of it.

Zed and Yasuo are still fucking stupid though.

HaIlMonitor1 votes

I wouldn't mind if they made his stun shorter but easier to pull off. Something like one second because as it stands if he hits a 3-5 man stun its an instant team ace.

I GANK LANES1 votes

that's one of the points i was getting at, as it stands he'll always be built as a tank because of the 2.25 aoe stun at rank 1

Refdow1 votes

Are you fucking real? That motherfucker is already too strong in the midlane currently.

Look forward to it at world http://www.op.gg/summoner/userName=TSM+BjergsenMid

Nekusen1 votes

Ekko is now only played in the jungle and occasionally on top, he is better built as tank due to his poor AP scaling

I GANK LANES1 votes

thank you sir.

Scryer1 votes

I would be fine with it, if they reduced the stun duration, and the shield power.

IcyPepper1 votes

He's still played in the jungle and never id even after the base nerfs and scaling buffs. If his stun was more reliable but the duration was shortened I really feel like he would move back to the mid lane

Um, what's wrong with him jungling? Why do you feel the need to force him back to midlane? His kit is far more suitable to jungling than laning, if you ask me.

I GANK LANES1 votes

there's nothing wrong with him jungling, i like jungling with him too. but something should be done when he's literally unviable in the mid lane. 2.25 seconds is a waste anyways if you're team isn't around his whole burst is his q and e, youre just autoattacking after that

IcyPepper1 votes

So what do we do then? Reduce the stun and delay on his W, and add damage to his Q or E then? o.O

I GANK LANES2 votes

make it scale with rank, maybe something like 1.25-1.50-1.75-2.0-2.25. and speed up the time it takes for his q to come back to him, it's literally impossible to hit it in lane. i'm not saying make it easy because if it was it'd be way too easy to proc his passive in lane, but yeah. it's ridiculously easy to dodge right now and way too slow.

LaceUp231 votes

Yeah, there are a lot of champs that jungle that are less viable in the mid lane.

BakedLotion1 votes

The real question is why the fuck his stun duration is longer than the shield. What's the point of the shield if you're stunning everything for longer than the shield lasts?

LaceUp231 votes

For times when you get the shield without stunning the target? Come on bud, not too difficult.

Why should he be rewarded for missing it? You should never be rewarded for fucking up, but he has so many get out of jail free cards its not even funny. Fuck up your engage? press r, or q slow them and dash away. Miss stun? lol np i get 1k shield. miss everything? np i have two fucking gap closers.

Divewing1 votes

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.... To be honest I'm scared of that prospect. I think the real reason he's played jungle is his whole risk-reward paradigm. AP Ekko mid has HUUUUUUGE reward, but honestly you get ccd just once and it's lights out, it's just sooooo difficult. Going tanky really makes things easier at the expense of damage, but that's what ADCs are for I guess
