6.8 and ekko

Just got done reading the patchnotes, and I think that all the changes made are huge improvements to the overall game's health. Really love the patch, i think a lot of things are done right and I love it.

Tank ekko was out of hand with a winrate approaching post rework Skarnar's. It was kinda shitty for someone who just started maining AP/bruiser ekko, he was banned out in 75% of my games and I was really feeling like I got personally shafted by learning his kit. Ekko has never really gotten out of hand as an ap assassin due to his hit or miss style of gameplay, but tank ekko was too safe and did far too much damage, it was a very uninteractive experience that I don't like seeing from a gameplay perspective. I still think that he'll be strong, but with the nerf to his base damages and Iceborn, I see him leaving the tier 1 pool.

The stealth buff to AP ekko, I am worried about, as as soon as you have 50 ap, you have the same E damage as you would have had with the same amount of AP proor to the changes, and you continue to generate a sizable amount of damage from the scaling over time. 20 base damage isn't a lot to loose for a +.2 to ap scaling.

-2% missing health damage on W passive is good, gimps tankko, BUTTTT, again, a massive AP ekko buff. The cost to generate a point of % damage has dropped by a third. Again, lower base, higher scaling.

I LOVE the shift away from the uninteractive, stupid, tank ekko more towards a mid-lategame AP bruiser. But both shifts in power buff AP ekko. Yes, they nerf his earlygame, BUT, ekko has never really been an earlygame champion. You can sneak a first blood if you get the level 3 outplay, but that's a far cry from reliable. It's always been better to play safe and wait for the gank or a powerspike until around level 7 in most matchups, give or take 2 levels. AP ekko hasn't been top tier recently, but he's never been bad. I'm just not sure if I like the AP ekko buffs or if I think it'll push him over the edge of OP. We could easily see him as a nasus-esque 'kill him before he gets level 6 or you loose lane/the game' type champion, which I personally don't want to see.

We'll see how this progresses, and I really look forward to being able to play my newest main again, but I'm worried.

Personally I think the shield on his W makes no sense.

Just remove the Shield from W. he just has too much.

Maybe increase mana on Stun as well. And make it a bit bigger. Reduce CD (4-6) seconds so you can use it whenever but its costly.

posted this as I felt the changes aren't significant at all at nudging him down from his 57% win rate. Tank ekko may be solved but ekko's overloaded kit isn't.

He did not receive a nerf just a shift in stats. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if his winrate increased after the mage update if that's even possible sitting at 57%

AP ekko with the changes are yet to be seen though so that winrate may change.

Just concerned with the numbers really. As is I don't think the changes will keep him from being yet another must ban champion. I don't mind him keeping all the versatility he has, just the stats must be off since his win rate points to it. Unless i'm wrong about the win rate in which case i retract everything.
