Does anyone else get the distinct feeling preseason isn't going to help the game much?

This entire season has been trash. Most of my friends quit, new players aren't joining the game, matchmaking times are way longer because everyone is leaving, games feel lopsided, entire classes have been invalidated, abusive champions and strategies are allowed to stay in the game for months, etc. Every major update to a role outside of top lane has been an abject failure. Enchanters and tank supports (with a few exceptions) are useless, crit ADCs are worthless, non-duelist junglers are useless, immobile mages are useless in the mid lane. As someone with 64 level 7 champions, it's never felt like my pool has been smaller. I used to play nearly every character pretty reliably and still be a benefit to my team, now I feel like if I'm not playing my best 3 or so champions in every role I'm literally trolling and it's killing my enjoyment of the game.

Anyways, all season we've been waiting for preseason and now we have it here on PBE. Don't get me wrong, longer laning phases and more useful bounties sound great, but I'm getting a distinct feeling that the real root cause of a lot of the shitty feelings associated with the game aren't going away. The classes that have been kicked to the curb aren't coming back, tanks are getting soft reworks that involve them having less cc, and the overall direction of the game doesn't seem to have changed much. Hell, the already super-prevalent aggressive classes will probably further crowd out the more passive ones because killing the enemy and reaching their tower will be heavily rewarded.

I just feel like this game is in a place it won't get back from at this point. Season 9 is supposed to be the turning point that reignites peoples' passion for the game and gets new players to take it seriously instead of thinking "Oh, it's that old game that used to be popular, I'm not going to start an account on a 10 year old game." I just went into a normal game and the matchmaking was a 6 minute queue. I'm honestly starting to get major SMITE vibes from this game, where the marketing gets increasingly scummy as the playerbase dwindles. Now, SMITE is basically a shell of its' former self and has no players, only trying to sell overpriced products to the few people who are still there. I don't want League to end up the same way.
