does sion really need a buff?

Sion was the first champ i ever played about a year or 2 ago when i started. i havent played him much till just recently when people said he needed a buff. back then i wasnt to good so i didnt think he was good but now i know all there is to know and ive been playing him and i dont see why people say hes in a bad spot. his passive does take a bit of time to come back but that hasnt been much of a problem. ive laned against darius, riven and kennen recently and it wasnt a problem catching them and killing them in a couple basics. His Q does massive damage early game. His W is decent. i do think maybe the shield should be a bit more. The e is a good poke. and the R is ok unless you are going against someone who can dash like riven but you dont have to hit them directly for them to get stunned. just get close enough. i usually get dead mans so even if i dont hit them i can usually chase them down. I would love to see him get buffed since he is one of my favorite champions and i think he will definitely need it for S6 but i think right now he is okay. BTW i usually start dorans shield go to ravenous or titanic and then depending on the other teams comp defensive items

His Q doesn't do massive damage when you consider that he misses 2 full auto attacks during the channel time, so subtract 200% AD from the final damage to get the actual damage done.

Sion is the reverse Lee Sin.

Every single one of his skills is tailor made with a huge downside and counterplay... originally, to compensate for this he was given massive numerical advantage (Low mana costs, quick activation time on W, etc.) but this was torn down, leaving him with all of the downsides/counterplay and none of the benefits.

Lee Sin conversely, has a massively overloaded kit with no downsides... since he isn't even gated by mana (He has no mana to be gated by) , he is allowed to run rampant unchecked.

Sion needs buffs. Put him up against Darius/Fiora/Riven/Vlad/etc. and he will get destroyed 10 times out of 10 barring extreme jungle assistance.

Sion has... a lot of problems.

When he was first re-released, he had the damage to make up for his slow attacks and his shield wasn't absolutely useless. Now? You have to wait an hour to pop your tiny shield for the damage, his E has been nerfed into the ground, and only his Q remains for early game damage which half of the top laners you'll face these days won't get hit by it.

And no, don't say jungle. Not everybody wants to play Sion jungle.

Late game is a joke. He doesn't make a good late game tank because he has no relaible CC. Unless you land a few thousand units on your Ult, the knockup/stun isn't very useful since you'll probably hit a tank anyways. Landing anything more than a .5 second slow on your Q in a team fight is impossible, and by the time the slow on your E would be useful your team has already blasted every minion to death in a 5 mile radius so good luck landing that either. Thanks to BoRK, it's not like his scaling health makes a difference either, doubly so since he has low base HP to make room for his health stacking.. So unless you're going Jungle Sion, you won't actually benefit from health stacking until the game goes on for like an hour.

His early and mid game remains strong due to how much base damage he has, and that's great, but Sion has always (even pre rework) been the champion people want to be strong in the late game. He just doesn't fulfill that fantasy anymore. I can still win with him, but I honestly don't see a reason to put the effort into it anymore.

Also I still miss old Sion.

And no, don't say jungle. Not everybody wants to play Sion jungle.

It doesn't help that Sion has horrid ganking capabilities. Compare to even mediocre junglers like Noc, Xin, Pantheon, Rammus.... let alone to Lee/Elise/Gragas/Rek Sai.

Playing Sion jungle is crippling your team with basically no ganks... and it's not like Shyvana/Nunu where you can make up for it with strong counter jungle presence, Sion is slow, predictable and easily punished for trying to gank/counter jungle.

I loved old Sion for his massive burst and scaling health (Note: He had the second highest base health in the game (at the time if I recall)), but current Sion has terrible base health, terrible base defensive stats and very poor "burst"(if you can even call it that). He needs massive buffs or a whole new rework.
