Mordekaiser top builds?

So recently since the patch 6.1 update ive been going mordekaiser top since you can use his W on minions now. Not sure whats best on him. I havent really gone tanky morde yet. I usually start out with or and build into for my first item. Then after that im not sure what to buy. every game i just experiment different things such as . What is a better build path? i also use grasp of the undying as my keystone. so if there are any better masteries id like to know. Id like to know some tanky builds aswell

My personal favorite build's currently a Hybrid build that provides massive sustain and insane damage and tankiness.

item 3116 item 3053 item 3146 item 3065 item 3157 Boots to your liking.

He can hold his ground against a lot of mid's now. Especially in these days of the assassin meta he's going to get matched against a lot of champions he counters. As for mages, he can finally go up against most of them except his old counters of course.

Items for Mid lane Mordekaiser are similar with Rylais being a must buy, period. I'd say you may be able to get a rabaddons instead of SV/Steraks if you want to nuke the shit out of most champs but almost any build works with him as long as you go a tanky ap/ad route.

Just got out of a game vs an azir

I started boots+4 pots, gave FB going in for a kill and getting ganked :(

I rushed wota into a gunblade, then rylias,visage FH

My damage was surprisingly high up until people started getting MR, even being able to melt their hecarim.

Do you think getting a high CDR is worth it on morde? I was trying out a 45% cdr build and was unimpressed

I'm not a fan of high CDR on Morde seeing that his spells all have low cool downs anyways and there aren't many decent CDR items he can choose from.

Love the way you went for about ~36% Spell vamp though XD

it's just something I've always loved to do, sometimes even getting that 3rd revolver. Probably something I'll stop now that smite won't proc vamp :/.

Idk if you remember any of my posts, but i used to always try to push morde players to try him with smite mid. I was very very sad when i saw that it no longer proc'd vamp :'(

WHat boots do you prefer? I tried the speed boots and actually really liked it. It made it much "easier" to stick to my targets/run away

Boots are really flexible. They have a lot of AA reliant champs or critters item 3047 A lot of lockdown item 3111 Only slows and maybe one hard cc item 3009

But since the latest patch I get item 3020 to snowball even harder^^

I've been trying a lot of builds but currently these variations work. (WARNING SINCE TRINITY GUTTING THESE TWO ARE EXPERIMENTAL STILL PENDING RESULTS UNTIL 40+ GAMES) These two are based around highly volatile mixed damage while still being relatively tanky and having some amount of CDR item 3009 item 3742 item 3078 item 3053 item 3022 item 3065 can replace items for item 3111 item 3047

item 1001 item 3022 item 3742 item 3078 item 3508 item 3065 can replace for item 3031 if you're against an AD heavy team you can skip visage and just go item 3075 item 3056 or get whatever one you didn't get yet. can be replaced by a lot of items especially item 3116

(currently favorite standard however replace item 3100 for item 3078 if your enemies are building item 3156 )

item 1001 item 3065 item 3742 item 3115 item 3100 item 3083 can replace items for item 3001 item 3116 item 3075 item 3143 item 3053 General idea of the build is to be incredibly tanky with high amounts of CDR to spam e for shield and enough AS to expend q faster on targets

I run MS quints on all my builds.

To be honest this patch's ult change was a hefty nerf to burst and to ghosts but since they gain a 100% bonus AD ratio the first 2 Item builds I listed can make even underfed people do some semblance of damage.

Do keep in mind however, even when Morde is incredibly tanky you eventually start dying quite quickly cause of his pitiful base stats and not enough tank steroids compared to legitimate tanks or other juggernauts.

As for masteries I use thunderlords or stormraider's surge. AA+Q reset + e can proc stormraiders and let you wade into battle generally unopposed.

I do however sometimes like the thunderlord burst in some lane match ups Aatrox Illaoi Irelia

I start item 1028 and build it straight into item 3116 ......( item 1054 is probably better but whatev, I like the extra health)

Then I get item 3089 . Then item 3020 ......( item 3111 if they have HEAVY CC).

That is the core... after that you can kinda go with whatever your facing...

I like item 3157 item 3083 and then whatever.

doesn't ad morde do more damage with Q than AP? the ad scaling is pretty crazy

In order for an AD item to give you more damage for your Q than a 100 AP item like Rylai and Zhonya, it must give you at least 66 AD. List of such items: item 3074 , item 3053 (only after you reach proper amount of base AD), item 3139 , item 3072 . Also, don't forget that your W and R damage part don't scale with AD, so you loose on scaling when buying AD item and you gain more damage on E when building AP. Of all those items I mentioned, I would consider only item 3053 as viable for Mordekaiser. So, at least imo, no, it won't work. The only ability that you will deal damage will be Q, so basically, unless you can hit your Q's, you are completely useless.

go this one, adapted to wreck squishies and tanks: item 3116 item 3151 item 3146 item 3065 item 3143 (lyandris dot and deathfire heal you (and heal you more when confronted to people with tons of hp). infinite sustain,always shield,never die. usually take item 1323 + item 2138 for massive tenacity and summoner 6 summoner 14 . Here you go

Personally, I suggest rushing Rylai, then Zhonya. Next items you buy depend on enemies you face: A lot of AP and few AD: build Abyssal, Spirit Vissage, Deadman's Plate, for boots, choose between Tabi or Mercury's, depending on how much CC they have and what ADC you are facing. A lot of AD and only one AP champion: get Deadman, Randuin, Liandry and Mercury, so that one AP guy doesn't melt you too quickly. If there is completely no AP, just buy Tabi instead. Balanced team (both AD and AP): Buy Deadman, Abyssal, Spirit Vissage and Tabi. You are snowballing very hard: buy Rabadon instead of one of your deffensive choices. thank you all for yalls comments. ill definitely be trying out all these builds and ill be getting back to yall later on what i think works best. Now what about the masteries? ive Been trying out grasp of the undying. Havent tried stormraiders or thunderlords though.

While this isn't related to top lane morde.

Try out jungle morde with item 1401 and the strength of the ages mastery then go like item 3116 item 3742 item 3146 item 3065 or item 3001 You'll get a sizeable amount of hp just from cinder+mastery and a rylais with a fair amount of damage. You can also put item 3157 item 3151 in the build too if you prefer.
