Muting makes you less aware of how (badly) your teammates are doing, and less likely to get demoralized or overconfident as a result. Consequently, you win more games. That is my theory, and I think muting is probably more useful than warding in terms of raising your win rate.

Muteing can definitely help. Give your team a chance though. Part of being skill full at the game is how good your social skills are. In higher elo this is huge you can get big advantages you would otherwise miss out on. In bronze / silver you could get away with /muteall every game if you want, I wouldn't blame you.

Saddening but true, I don't play ranked but in normals I tend to be more likely to win the games where I mute people the second I see them acting negatively.

unfortunately not everyone uses pings, this only works if you can consistently win lane, get ahead, roam and take multiple objectives by yourself.

if you play someone like maokai the above strat will fail, every single time because you alone can not make the difference, take objectives, get kills, and run rampant.

sometimes you get stuck being the "team player" and everyone else just fails across the board or the enemy is just in a ball of 5 holding hands, and the best you can muster is 2 or 3 together, and you get nothing in return.

basically you have to make damn sure to win the early game so hard and have a huge impact on the game yourself. and you just cant do that as a janna, or a shen etc etc.

and what about your team mates who play with the volume all the way down, and just dont watch the minimap?

or your bot lane adc who refuses to leave lane whatsoever, and your support cant keep up on vision and as a result your adc gets picked and the enemy team gets 2 or even 3 free dragons as a result?

there are certain unwinnable conditions that do happen as a result of even a single member doing as they please, ignoring the rest of the team, and it batches everything up.

as ive said, you need to play a champion who can put the team on your back, and say hey, we will win soley because of me and my actions, i dont need anyone else, i can play make.

but when you're playing maokai again, at best you went 2-0 in lane, and have 50+ cs on your opponents, but when you dive 5v5, and you get focused and your team cant decide to go all in or back out, you just dont put out any damage yourself, no one on the enemy team dies, you do, because no1 else followed you in, and now you just lost 2 inhibitors by the time you revived.

you can make the correct decision every single time, but some games you will just lose because of champion selections and grouping/positioning, its as simple as that.

Because those in ranked are at the same skill level as you. They normally try to tell you how to play like they are better. Trust your own decisions as well as don't rely on others in solo queae.

Best ranked advice I've ever seen. I learned this trick awhile back and my elo has been climbing ever since.

I have a hard time not taking it to heart or responding. I do a bad job ignoring comments. I either feel like I have to justify my plays, defend someone else who's being bullied, or respond in some kind. Then I'm exacerbating the problem, wasting my time typing, and causing my teammates to also waste time typing. Then, inevitably I start tilting because every mistake I'm just waiting for someone to start flaming me.

Simplest solution for me? Mute, communicate with pings, and play well and be happy. =) Sadly, for all the cool and supportive people in League, there are tons of trolls and ragers.

Just mute your team at start of match. Then if you see someone responding to someone talking shit about you in /all on other team. Report your whole team for verbal abuse.

Had a Graves tell me "ult, wtf?" because I didn't ult for him to get a kill...because I knew they were waiting for my only means of counter-engaging (I was Sona) to be down. Just to humor him, I did it, we got ganked immediately after, and we died. He shut up after that and we won peacefully.

But don't do it like me. Don't even take the chance.

I'm starting to feel like I should try this.

When I think back on my games, I can remember too many times where I've let people's words or fighting get to me. It's a hard thing to ignore when you're trying your best and taking the game seriously.

I mute the enemy team almost always, and the first time anyone on my team says anything bad to anyone i mute them and rebuff them

Meh. I only do this when you get a terrible, toxic player who blames the rest of the team for their own stupidity. On occasion I have to do a /muteall if I'm jungling and the rest of the team is feeding because without fail they will blame the jungler for their own stupidity.
