Tank items broken.... please nerf.

Soo I just had a game where full tank Garen did 50k dmg to champions while full AP Brand did "only" 52k (which was kinda ok considering he was fed) ..... BUT main problem is... how can full tank have same damage as fully offensive mage. how is this even possible???? Can you please look into it????? It seems to me that this game balance is getting shittier and shittier with every patch.

I believe tank items are currently very OP and are in need massive nerf. As example of how OP tank items currently are, just take Ekko or Fizz build tank items and proceed to wreck any1 who gets before u.

I play lots of games where my APC does less damage than me as a tank but got more kills and was still important to the team. It's because APCs burst people from a range and can 1 shot squishies. Tanks usually can't. They chip away at people, making them less of an immediate kill threat.

That Garen was only chunking rarely, and most of his dmg was probably possible due to sheer lasting power in a fight. Does his thornmail dmg show up there too? That's not broken, just good situational itemization.

Garen cant burst multiple squishiest, hop to the back line, dive well, or poke. He trades utility for some numbers so it's honestly up to his opponents to let him spin on them for full durations and stuff.

first of all, garen is not a tank. hes a bruiser, fighter, juggernaut. call them what you want.

his job is to carry and deal damage just like brands job is to carry, so if this garen was fed, he probably dealt a lot of damage.

he also doesnt have a full defensive build. hes built a cleaver and steraks which give him respectable offensive stats. he has a sunfire and a thornmail which might have further contributed to his overall damage.

and one of the most important factors might be that this statistic is simply misleading.

garen is usually a top lane champion. thats where health and resistance stackers are playing. top lane trades are different from bursty bot lane or mid lane fights between squishy adc or mages, where opponents drop in seconds. top lane trades are usually drawn out, and opponents are trading with each other repeatedly. they have large health pools that theyre slowly grinding down.

then they heal up and trade again. over the course of the game, this can stack up to a lot of damage, even when there werent a lot of kills going on. this might be what youre seeing here.

edit.: just read that his opponent was a tryndamere. its basically the same thing as dealing with someone with a large health pool. they traded, the tryn healed back up with q and lifesteal, they traded again. imagine this going on throughout the lane phase. this will show up in the statistic.

There is an incredibly easy explanation.

Garen was laning against mundo, who mind you, also had the highest damage to champions on your team.

Basically they hit each other, healed, hit each other, healed. Over and over again. Over and over again. Over and over again. Over and over again. Over and over again. Over and over again. Over and over again. Over and over again.

That makes them look good on the damage graphs but little of that damage is actually useful.

Also, Garen is quite easily kiteable and he is not exactly a tank since he has no hard CC. He is a fighter, meaning someone that has damage and tankiness but no CC.

Lets look at your team however. You were a near fulll tank support Sona that dealt more damage to champions than your full AP midlaner, your full AD ADC and your jungler. Tank sona needs serious nerfs, how is that even possible!?!?!

You're complaining about a fed juggernaut doing damage? He built a couple of offense items too, not full tank.

i only count 2 tank items, 2 bruisers items, and sunfire which is indeed broken. that's not full tank, that's bruiser build

Ralanr6/6/2016, 6:53:23 PM2 votes

He has two offensive items, so he's actually going a bruiser build rather than a tank build.

We also don't know the other team comp, which could be a huge factor for his damage (his ult does %health and Thornmail hurts based on how much damage he takes).

Ezreal, Sona and Jax were all behind(and thus weak). Of them:

  • Sona was a utility support with low-ish damage
  • Ezreal's damage is primarily single-target (Q, E and autoattacks)
  • Jax was the jungler (and also single-target damage).

Garen was very fed, a top laner (and thus often fighting his lane opponent) and deals a signficant amount of AoE damage with his E. As such, it was very easy for him to rack up damage dealt.

Also, I'm not really sure how the damage calculate counts overkill damage from his ultimate. If he ulted somebody with extremely low health, it might count the full damage he would have dealt (even after they were reduced to 0HP).

He had multiple damage items though. Cleaver, Sterak's, and Sunfire all add to your damage dealt. Hell, even Thornmail does. Garen is also not a tank, he's a juggernaut. It's part of his class to do damage if he gets into melee range of someone. Looks like he was pretty fed as well.

You guys should have just kited him out, Garen is pretty fair in that he's extremely easy to kite if you're playing properly. Ekko and Fizz were / are out of whack, Garen is fine.

No, this is a Garen. Counterpick him and you won't have to worry about him getting fed..

13/4?

Who fed him

you also have to consider maybe the garen is a way better garen than the brand is brand. like you can out damage people if you main the chap youre playing

Mecha MaIphite6/6/2016, 8:13:19 PM1 votes

item 3071 item 3053 are not "full tank" items

Sunfire also does a decent amount of damage, and maybe thornmail too if you have enough armor.

spombjop6/6/2016, 8:14:34 PM1 votes

Who are retards that voted no? Tank items ARE OP.

Lycanoon6/6/2016, 8:17:34 PM1 votes

Funny thing... Garen does True Damage to marked targets...so...yea. Put poppy in Garen's "full" tank gear...She does not do as much damage as Garen while spamming 1 particular skill like garen does.
