That new item on the PBE, my gawd do i wish it existed now. Sooo many more champs would be viable with it. I do hope it has a late game upgrade tho, like a combination with a Pick Ax or something, its a great tier 2 item but yah like Hexdrinker it needs an upgrade.

About the item though, it seems Riot doesn't realize they already have a great mana regen + cooldown reduction item that would fit perfectly in the recipe. Something like, say, a Forbidden Idol.

It tends to be weak because the regen is pretty bad in lane because you get bullied for having no ad, particularly with the season 5 changes where regen will just be a %increase of your base regen. It's kind of like Ezreal buying a tear in lane, except most carries can't get away with it like Ezreal can.
They've floated the idea of having it build out of a specific component item with AD and the mana on hit passive. Seems like that would be a lot better.

It's just a weaker version of Essence Reaver O_o;
The point is that it would upgrade into a lategame item like Essence reaver, but now there is a mid game/ first purchase item for champs who struggle in the early game against resourceless high sustain champs.

...Hint, I was suggesting the pretty common and smart suggestion of adding Forbidden Idol to Essence Reaver's build path. There, it solves early mana issues, makes sense for the cdr is has, and actually helps.
