How does the ranked matchmaking work?

I have a feeling it matches you with lower MMR players on your team when your MMR is higher than the division you're in. The reason I say this is because almost every game of ranked I play I lose, generally because my team/1 of my teammates is feeding. (I know, I have a couple bad games here and there, but generally I don't start to die a bit until after the enemy gets fed) I prefer to play tanky junglers, and most of my deaths tend to be for trades that are worth it/saves on my adc, so my scores don't look great. But when I lose 13 LP for a loss and gain 25+ for a win, i can honestly say I think my MMR is higher than G4. And before you say "it's always your fault you didn't carry", take note that I've seen a very alarming amount of 1/8 scores on my team at one point in the game or another.

TL;DR: Does higher MMR lead to lower MMR teammates?

It's the opposite, higher mmr( in the sense your mmr is higher than your division) means you play with higher division people. If your playing with people below your rank then they are either very good, they have a higher mmr, or your mmr is trash. For example my smurf was placed in s1 but I play against g1 and p5 players because my mmr is so high.

I think it matches you with whoever is in that rank regardless of what level...for instance I was Bronze 3, and I kept getting grouped with Bronze 5's who were beyond clueless(like these people should be in regs or bots...def. not ranked).
