HP at level 18 Sion: 1784 Yi: 2163 Sion behind by 379 health

Armor at level 1 Sion: 23 Yi: 24 Sion behind by 1 armor

Armor at level 18 Sion: 74 Yi: 75 Sion behind by 1 armor

Something seems wrong when Sion has less innate durability than master Yi.

All melee carries have decent base stats.

are you defending a tank having lower base defense stats stats than a glass canon

I'm pointing out melee carries are all bullshit in general, Fiora, Tryndamere, Master Yi you name it.

They kind of have to be bullshit to compete. In this game, if you don't have range, you usually have to go tanky or just get blown up by the enemy backline. Or have a gimmick.

For a champion to be allowed to have ADC-like damage and still be melee, they need a bullshit gimmick, like mobility, untargetability, invincibility, and high stats/steroids. Hence Fiora, Tryndamere, Yi, Yasuo.

You basically need an incentive to go melee carry rather than any ranged ADC in the game. Dota 2 does it using turn speeds, base stats, and stat bonuses from items. This game decided to go the way of "bullshit", such as Tryndamere's ult.

This is exactly why League is a better game than DOTA2.

DOTA2 creates and balances heroes using raw strength/stats which is fairly dull and unrewarding.

League creates and balances champions using creative mechanics and more complex decisions.

sion should be able to stack at least 400 HP at level 18, probably more than 600 if he's ahead and farmed well.

thats amazing, an ahead sion almost has as much hp as any bruiser

sions passive is why it gives him something that cant be compared simply with stats

Are you talking about Sion's actual passive (his death passive?) or his W's Passive that allows him to stack health?

If you're referring to his death passive, then it could make sense since it revolves around the HP he has for it though even if he had higher base HP it wouldn't make that much more of a difference.

If you are talking about his HP stacking passive, I think the low amount of base HP he has in the end makes his HP stacking passive almost a dis-advantage. Being down around 350-400 HP at level 18 from the average tanks is a lot and takes a while for him to just cut even with their HP. If you look at the other 2 stacking champions, they don't really sacrifice as much as Sion does for their stacking power

Veigar can just play safe and farm his Q until level 6 and he basically wins against any Mage post-6, and Nasus may have his weak points in the first few levels but the second he comes back with his first item, unless he was absolutely camped/destroyed before then, he will out scale you with just 1 item.

Also Sion's is much much less broken than the other 2 when you get into really late game.

they are all completely different styles of farm based champions sion is a cc tank monster that does surprising damage early. nasus is a short ranged squishy crusher and veigar is an ap mage that scales infinantly their farm values are different but i was talking about both passives but mostly his main passive

His passive?

If you mean his actual passive, that doesn't really do shit. By the time he enters Zombie mode, everyone has vacated the premises, and even if they haven't, one slow/cc will render it useless.

His W passive requires him to get over 300 farm to even match Yi (not happening with these game lengths)

Whut Thuh 1 votes

both. and you didnt count jungle monsters with give 10 health. and in a team fight if you ult in chain stun with q and then die not only have you dont a chunk of damage and kept the enemy cc'd for 2 seconds but if you die then the enemy is forced to disengage or take your insane auto damage. and if they waste cc on you thats also a plus

Quepha2 votes

Now let's look at what actually matters for a tank How much cc does Sion have compared to Yi? Sion: lots Yi: zero looks like Sion's a good tank.

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

Tanks usually have a bit lower base stats then damage dealers because tanks are going to be specing into resistances.

As for the HP, that's because Sion has theoretically unlimited health from the passive of his (I think) Shield (E I think)

Ahem.

WHAT THE EFF.... seriously thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Can't tell if /s but...

Sion regularly will have 800+ extra HP from W passive by level 18, if not more. He also has a shield in his kit. Tanks generally have lower base stats than other champions because they're designed to build a ton of those stats, or have supplements elsewhere in their kit (see: Mordekaiser)

Sasogwa1 votes

Well, Yi or anybody else, really. Sion has very poor base stats, it is known and quite bs. I don't see why he should be punished with lower health at 18 just because he has one of the shittiest "infinite scaling" (absolutely worthless knowing how much %health damage there is in this game atm) You could make it sound even stupider if you got a juggernaught like Darius as a comparison.

Ralanr1 votes

Clearly we need to nerf Yi's stats.

Bârd1 votes

Or buff Sion.

oh hey there

?

Sion just has shitty base defense to compensate for his infinite HP stacking (which is lame design, he's being punished for part of his kit, much like how Kassadin is punished for his passive's magic damage DR with no scaling MR).

Comparing him to Yi is pointless. The difference is even greater when you compare him to other tanks like Alistar, Malphite, or whatever.

Olath Quortek1 votes

By level 18 Sion has easily made up for and past Yi with health stacking... You can't just leave that out bro... XD

Anags1 votes

Sion is fine....Yi is fine. Sion has lower health due to how his w interacts with it. By mid game his w is a massive shield that still does good damage. Neither of these champs needs a change imo.
