Im tired of the misconceptions about Riven.

Before I start this thread, I would like to state a few things. Yes I am Riven Main, but this shouldn't dissuade your opinion from this thread. If you do disagree with me, please add a comment, but anyways, thank you for reading this part. I hope you do keep an open mind during this thread as it is controversial.

I'm tired. I'm tired of when I play Riven and I do bad, people say, "How do you do bad with Riven, she's so easy to play!", or, "Stop crying Riven, easiest champion, you spam buttons."

But honestly, it's frustrating. I've dedicated so much time to Riven, and climbed Gold+ to Platnium 4, and although yes, I do bad, and it is partially my fault,** I don't think Riven is as easy as you guys make it out to be.**

I want to say a few things here, Riven's kit itself, is yes, technically, unfair to play against. I will admit that, she has so many dashes and abilities, its ridiculous. But, I feel that she has the highest skillcap out of any champion.** She may not seem hard to play, but her skillcap is literally endless. **

Riven is easy, if you play against bronze or silver, or in a simple normal game. It may seem ridiculously easy, but if you want to play in a high elo Ranked Game, it's as difficult as playing many other champions.

I'm tired of getting disrespected by my teammates, because they believe Riven is overpowered, or broken, or etc, but honestly, if you want to do good with her, you need to dedicate time to the champion. I'm tired of getting hated on by enemies, I'm tired when they are playing champions like Irelia, and act like they take so much more mechanical skill then Riven because Riven is a button masher.

You can downvote me here if you want, I'm not asking for buffs to Riven, or anything to her kit. I know she's majorly disliked by the community, but please, at least, take into consideration, she does take a lot of mechanical skill, just like any other champion, and she isn't as easy as she looks.

She takes a lot of mechanical skill to play well. But the majority of them never have to play well to carry with Riven.

That's why I think it's better when she is in a weaker state. Because then we don't have a bunch of FOTM's around enforcing the toxic Riven stereotype and actual Riven mains can play her without scrutiny (in theory).

Sadly, champions like Riven, Fiora, and Vayne had such powerful FOTM periods that they won't be easily forgotten for the shit toxic players did with them. It is pretty much burned into the memory of thousands.

@OP you do make a very good point, but the first response also bring up a very good point.

yes riven is a high skill champ and your OP is 100% correct. but the point is at lower elos she doesn't NEED skill to be crazy strong. at lower elos people CAN just spam buttons and win.

and when you see riven hate on there boards you need to keep in mind.

i made a post about supports not getting item 2049 being bad.

and it got 18 downvotes. so most of the people here are idiots...

Eh. All this really does is sound like whining about Riven hate. It's essentially a meme around here.

Yeah, Riven is hard to play. She has a decently low skill floor in that anyone with about 8-10 games should be able to pick up enough to carry games.

But she's also pretty broken. If played to her full capability, she is capable of 1v5ing, getting kills, and getting out alive. Her kit is really overloaded and she's an incredibly powerful champion that isn't gated by cooldowns, resources, or length of the game. She's only gated by player, mechanical, skill. Deep inside every Riven player knows they could have done better. They could have won if they were smarter, quicker. Faster. Better.

And that's what makes her so fun to play. Getting good with her feels great because you are fully capable of wrecking shit. It's the same rush players in CSGO get when they're about to clutch a 1v4. But it's also bullshit in that the champion is capable of invalidating your entire team.

Riven is actually easy in Bronze to Gold levels. You can literally faceroll your way to victory the majority of the time.

However, once you do hit Plat + she is very hard to win with because you have to master the animation canceling to be able to beat good players. This is why Riot needs to remove the animation canceling and balance her from there. It would open her up to more players and make her much healthier to play as and against.

I know a lot of people who main Riven and put in the time to learn this would be pissed off. But ask yourself this. do you want Riven to stay in her current state forever or do you want her to be viable at all levels of play? Food for thought.

I don't understand how people say she is easy to dominate up to gold. Like you can just pick her and win up till gold. Maybe all you need to know is how to weave autos between her Q. She is no where near as strong as she once was and it takes practice to be able to pull off the flashy plays and multi kills. If you think you can just jump into the whole enemy team with your ult and get a penta or quad just because you have 12 kills and are fed your wrong. Also just because you can kinda fast Q or cancel R animation with E>R ect doesn't really matter.

Darius , Talon sorry for killing some rivens lately......she really is in a bad spot,my wife loves her riven and really can't use her right now because of the really weak feel to her kit

Hello diamond main here, Riven is easy to play hard to master.

Her kit is very flexible. Anyone whos saying riven is op/broken, dont mind them, low elo brain.

Wanna fck a riven? Trundle,shen,malphite,maokai,ekko,quin,pantheon,etc... A bad riven would get shiet on by these champs easily and if you lost badly to a riven using these champs well here are the reasons

That Riven is actually good and know what shes doing (build item, wait for gank, passive etc)
You are bad
You got camped 24/7

I have never seen high diamond complains abt riven lol, they just simply dont give a shiet abt her since shes not even consider in the meta rn lol.

riven isnt really easy to play but in some match ups you can just roll your face across the board and she can die several times but when she gets that 1 kill she comes back for almost 4 deaths she took and thats just an unskilled riven player riven mains take it even further and you cant really do anything against her with her low cooldown highly spamable and highly scaleing mobility shield

Riven is a Skirmisher, and the ALL of the Skirmishers sadly get so much hate. I mean, it's understandable, they are annoying to lane and play against, but just like Assassins, it is their job to kill enemy champions, so part of that frustration is intended (as Riot said in their last Zed change). The difference is that Skirmishers can kill anyone that crosses their path when given a chance too, as opposed to Assassins only being able to kill squishies, and I imagine that that can garnish even more hate for them.

I always find it funny when people try to compare Assassins and Skirmishers like they're supposed to be doing the same thing (i.e. Zed and Yasuo comparisons).

As mechanically difficult as it is to master Riven Riven , I'd argue Lee Sin LeeSin and Azir Azir are harder. But maybe it's just because their play-styles don't mesh with me. I've only played the three a few times, so I'm not exactly an authority on them.
