STILL no red replies about Kog'maw

I now know how all the other mains feel when Rito decides they want to "rework" a champion you enjoy, then bends them over, gives them a thourough anal reeming, and proceeds to entirely ignore the community feedback because it's okay to ruin a champ if it isnt LeeSin . Cause god forbid you "rework" that champ, and strip the versatility from his kit.

In your neverending mission to not enforce a meta, or pideonhole champs into certain roles, you have successfully pidgeonholed another champ into a specific role. KogMaw was formerly a rather versatile champ who could be played as a caster adc, as a full ap mage, as a full attack damage adc, as an on-hit adc.

Now he's been totally stripped. His mana costs are obscene, his ult damage is miniscule unless the enemy is low, limiting it to a finisher rather than a harass tool, or primary damage tool in the case of AP kog.

Now it's Kog'W. Because Kog is nothing but his W. His mana costs are far too high to play caster adc. He scales terribly with flat damage due to how his W works. He's forced into on-hit builds, or nothing.

I expect some handwaving buffs, or number tweaks eventually, dont expect you to ever fix the fact that he's now nothing but his W, or revert the rework, because gods in heaven forbid Riot ever fucking admit they did something wrong.

I managed to (sort of) get some information out of Meddler.

But it was some hand-wavy stuff about how it's okay that Miss Fortune completely overshadows Kog in every imaginable way because she does the 'Protect the ADC' thing differently (eg, from a safer distance, over less time, with less team coordination required, with a stronger fallback when her Ult is on cooldown, and without a crippling early game).

He still didn't explain how Riot plans on making Koggy ever a more attractive pick over MF as a centerpiece ADC.

Personally, I don't mind the remake. I think Riot could make it work. But it needs some pretty serious tweaks (in no particular order).

  1. New Innate that flags Koggy's basic attacks as melee (extra-dimensional nom attack!) and gives him some OnHit healing (against champs only? Against champs and monsters? Against everything? I dunno.) That would allow Kog to work a bit better with the items and masteries that are most attractive to him while also allowing him to bypass wall skills. He already has a ton of weaknesses, not getting totally shut out by Braum and Samurai Bob would help.

  2. Smooth out his Ult damage scaling (2.667% per 1% Hp the target is missing would hit 200% bonus damage at 25% HP).

  3. Reduce the Ult stack counter back down to six seconds. Ten is just insane.

  4. Maybe give his W a bonus AD ratio for the %HP damage and reduce the raw AD component to 50% from 55%.

  5. Make takedowns on enemy champions increase the duration of Koggy's W by 6 seconds.

With that battery of changes, I suspect that it would be quite a bit easier to balance Koggy in a meaningful way. Obviously numbers would need to be fiddled with, but Kog could use some fiddling right now.

OK, you are very terribly wrong about things like AP God'Maw. Kog's AP build is still very viable- His mana costs were always high. While his ult is now a finisher, this makes it an easier to kill opponents who underestimate his damage. His E still does a chunk of damage, and his W still makes decent harass. On-Hit builds ain't got nothing on this chunker. I have no problem playing AP Kog'Maw against most enemies, and find it absurd that people consider it dead.

When asked about the team's thoughts on Kog'Maw, Meddler shared: "Quote: Hey Meddler, nice to chat with you! I was wondering if you could tell us a bit about the team's vision with Koggy. In particular, are you guys planning on trying to stick to the 'Protect the Kog' niche rather than some more exotic builds like JuggerMaw or AP Marksmen Kog? If you guys are sticking with 'Protect the Kog' how do you plan on making him attractive when compared to champions like Miss Fortune who also benefit strongly from having a team built around them who can get results much easier? We do think Kog's a champ you should feel rewarded for building a protective team around, given his lack of escape/hard CC and dependence on sustained auto attacking. That's a space that a few different champions should be able to exist in though, provided they're doing it in different ways (e.g. MF as the wombo character you want to pair with AOE lockdown for the duration of her ult, Kog as the one you want to protect for extended periods of time with AA enhancing buffs where possible, Trist as the one to protect if you want to push towers quick mid game etc)."

The problem I have with Kog is the change to his ult. It's great for AD kog, but AP kog got completely screwed, and it was just when I started playing it too.
