I feel like I'm trolling if I pick Evelynn. This is not what you want Riot.

Her Q can't even 1-shot small Krugs. Her W lockout is way too long at later levels - there is no reason for it to still be 2.4 seconds late-game. Make it go down with levels 2.4-1.8. Her Q is the most sensible way to proc W, but its range is way too small. Make it 25-30% longer while her Passive is up.

Everything else is okay-ish.

Make these changes and she'll just need a few more tweaks.

I’m pretty sure they have plans for Eve with her current state, but then again they’ll probably wait a little bit to make sure their data is correct.

Anyways, most rework champion or new ones don’t tend to have a high win rate when released so can we automatically stop having a panic knee jerk reaction the second something isn’t successful on the first attempt.

Eh, it's quite obvious that Riot have erred too far on the safe side with new Eve. Which is probably for the best due to her kits' inherent balancing problems but she needs changes. At the moment she needs to meet too many conditions to threaten someone and is not rewarded enough for surviving her terrible level 1-5 (Kayn for example has a massively powerful midgame if he manages to transform in time to compensate for being a weakling early). She needs a reliability buff, and I think the best one would be to turn her empowered E into a proper gapcloser with decent range.

Their plans are "ignore her till preseason hits with the runes she was balanced around(such as the predator rune that gives a huge ms buff), then assess her for what changes, if any, she might need"

i just finished watching some of Dom's stream. He's performing very well with reworked evelynn. Looks like she's a champion that will be better on higher elo players. Not sure though.

DarkSoul199410 votes

He's 2-8 with new Evelynn.

And he said that basically no matter how fed he is on her she does no damage and she cannot carry. Pretty much every game he has 6+ kills at 20 minutes and he still loses.

Bârd5 votes

Her Q is her main damage spell. If you miss the dart, you lose about half the damage. If you land the dart, but can't follow up with a full barrage, you lose almost all of it.

Her E lost almost almost half its base damage in the rework, lost it's 100% AP ratio, and for... % HP damage? Sure, it's a high ratio on the % HP damage, but Eve doesn't go for the tanks. It still does decent damage with Lich Bane and Echo, but she has to delay that spike for Protobelt since she can't even reach the target without it.

Her ult does a lot of damage if they're low, but she doesn't have the tools to get them low in the first place.

Eve needed another week of brainstorming.

Eve's ultimate is the most boring skill in the game. It's basically baby's first ultimate.

"Let Papa Riot show you how to assinate. Press R for damage and escape, yes yes good just like that"

I don't mind her hit and run style (a la Garen) but her ultimate is basically "X marks the kill" (again, a la Garen)

Agony's Embrace was pretty outstanding for an assassin ult.

Kaìju2 votes

It isn't an execute.

Spank the Fox3 votes

That's a big fat lie.

It's primary function is an execute. Secondary purposes are as an escape. Tertiary is gap closing. You will struggle to stay on a target after using her R.

It even has an increased damage when X% HP threshold.

Kaìju1 votes

They straight up say in her spotlight it is not an execute, it just gets bonus damage against low health enemies but it is not guaranteed to kill. Executes are like 99.9% guaranteed to kill.

Spank the Fox4 votes

Hehe Garen and Darius ults aren't executes either

Neither is Jinx, hehe xd

Nothing is "guaranteed" to kill if you follow the definition.

They only said that in the champion spotlight so people don't think "wtf it has an X on them, X means they should die"

For all intents and purposes though, it is an execute for her targets (squishies). 800 base damage + 150% AP ratio at 16 when most squishies max out at 2k HP is a guaranteed death at that 30% HP threshold. Even with 100 MR (50% magic damage reduction) that is 400 base damage and a 75% AP ratio, which is more than 30% of their max HP.

The Last Ballad1 votes

Is Vigar's an execute?

Or Kogmaws?

Both do more damage the lower the health of their target is, with both capping at 30%.

Kai Guy1 votes

There is some disagreement on what an execute is, some folks feel that only %missing hp damage ability's are "executes" others are used to zeds shrunken indicator meaning that they die and are annoyed that eve just has a indicator for when her damage gets buffed, even if it wont guarantee a kill. And I'm shure there's even more views on this topic that I did not touch on as well.

The Last Ballad1 votes

Yeah, Riot should do a pass on what is considered an execute and clarify the different types(Sure kill indicators on Zed and Cho, %misssing health on Garen and Jinx, extra damage thresholds on Vigar, Eve, and Kog, ect)

DarkSoul19941 votes

Maybe if her R got a partial reset on kill/assist.

Spank the Fox1 votes

Her ult is strong, but boring. No number changes will fix that.

Basically her kit is feels like it's always gonna be limited to dealing 60%-70% of a non-defensive champion because she is meant to use her ult to finish, which is dull.

Part of the problem may be also due to her Garen-esque playstyle. Her passive mid game (with AP behind it) can restore her to 75% of her max HP. Which means if her kit without ult could 100-0 a champion, she'd be pretty bonkers since she could roam indefinitely and nab kills.

A lot of other assassins ult's have utility and make awesome plays with it. Zed, Kayn, Talon, even Akali with some proper minion management, Pentarina (though her strength is in her passive)

She has three issues.

  1. She's a jungler with no redeeming qualities before level 6. We know from old WW that this just doesn't work.
  2. She's slow. An assassin without target access is just a mass of pretty numbers.
  3. She just doesn't have the payoff of any other assassin. She's a shitty Elise.

Iv seen some insanely good evelyns in some of my ranked games, I think shes all right.

Drugoth4 votes

You should be trying to trigger your W with E instead of Q imo. I've played her a few games, and I feel like her kit feels really good. You just have to play her more and you'll see her value.

JoeMG1 votes

In my experience, yes, using her E to proceed the charm offers more consistent damage potential, but her damage isn't really the issue. Getting into range to use her E, especially pre-6, is too difficult in her current state. Against a team that knows how to peel for their squishes, Eve is practically useless.

Drugoth1 votes

My friend, you sound as if you've never flanked someone before so therefore do not know that it exists. xD

JoeMG1 votes

? Flanking isn't really the issue. It's more a matter of that 2.4 second window they have to react and in team fights that's way too much time considering she doesn't have a real gap closer.

I think the bigger question people are asking is what does she offer that other AP junglers don't?

Her Q can't even 1-shot small Krugs.

Her clear is pretty good imo and it doesn't really matter that she can't oneshot the small krugs as her Q is spammable asf.

DarkSoul19944 votes

That part was more of a testament to how low the damage is considering a single Basic Attack will kill them.

Okuma1 votes

Ahh okay then.

The Last Ballad2 votes

Keep in mind that she was balanced with the new runes, so her power is tied to those. We do not have the new runes, so we do not have her full power. Riot has said that they will not touch Eve until at least 7.23, which is the patch after preseason hits(2 patchs to preseason, 1 patch for the season to give data, then balancing)

PokladnicaZla1 votes

I haven't played her much(cause of college and stuff),only a few rounds in normal/draft and her clearing wasn't really that difficult for me.It was pretty easy. The only thing that I found bothersome was procing W.

I think she should get a higher base MS ( 340 or 345 or 350, up from 335) and myb a slight increase to her E range if her passive is up and her W is charged. Everything else is pretty good IMO*

Kai Guy1 votes

800 is a pretty good sized range. The lock out on W is fine, you plan for it, or you use it as strong Slow, 65% slow for 1 to 2 seconds is not a bad thing thou the lack of MR reduction is a bummer if your going hard for a kill. The thing about Q is that it adds damage to a single target 3 times rather then it being AOE. You can kite most camps with it and weave autos in when you need to add distance.

GripaAviara1 votes

I don't know what to say, Evelynn is not a meta level jungler but she's better than 50% of the main jungle champs.
