17 LP down the drain because Jungler decided 'bot suck' and went afk

I'm literally in tears from frustration. I begged him over and over to play. We weren't far behind. But he just decides to fuck us over and not even give us a chance to win because 'bot suck'. Now I have to work twice as hard to get back to where I was, and he probably won't even see so much as a chat restriction.

It's not my FAULT. I don't DESERVE to lose 17 LP for this particular game, and neither did they 3 other people on my team who all still tried their best until the end. One guy holds the entire team hostage and Riot says that's fair and totally okay, and I just have to deal with it.

I'm just... really fucking sad right now... I don't understand how people can queue up for RANKED and then not care whether they win or lose, and throw other people's feelings in the trash because someone didn't do so great in the first TEN minutes of a game that lasts 30-45 minutes.

AFKs in ranked need severe punishment. If people are willing to actually AFK, people aren't getting punished hard enough.

Exactly. MAYBE he'll see a ranked restriction somewhere down the line, but that's such a joke punishment he'll probably just laugh it off and troll Normals until he can ruin Ranked games again.

There are two different kinds of AFK/DC. The ones where it happens accidentally (network breaks, some emergency, etc.) and the ones who do it intentionally "gg I'm afk". I think the punishment for the latter should be extremely harsh (at least some kind of time ban), whereas the former shouldn't be punished too harshly for a first-time offence (but should get harsh if the behaviour is repeated often.)

Sadly, the problem is that it would be a bit difficult for an automated system to be able to tell the two apart. Difficult, but not impossible, since this sort of behaviour is usually tied into certain patterns of chat messages just before going AFK, and usually happens just after something bad happens for the player's team. I think Riot are busy working on other things, though. Maybe after Team Builder Draft and their other initiatives are complete, we might see something like this.

Don't get me wrong, AFKs are a big PITA to deal with and part of me wishes riot would do something about them. I'd also like to see a slaughter rule for unwinnable games, I'd like to think that if the game could call a match people'd be less likely to go afk early. The other thing I don't like is people who are saying FF at the 5 or 10 minute mark. Even if they are playing, they are mentally AFK and are helping you lose in a more passive aggressive style.

That said, until riot fixes those issues, you need to accept that whenever you enter a ranked game, you need to accept it'll happen.

That said, until riot fixes those issues, you need to accept that whenever you enter a ranked game, you need to accept it'll happen.

A player should never have to go into a competitive environment and just have to accept that there are people out there who are going to ruin your game, whether often or occasionally. League of Legends is pretty much a sport at this point, you wouldn't see players getting away with this shit in other sports

I mean it's going to happen and riot isn't going to be able to stop it completely. It's a random chance that it's going to happen to your team, and like it or not, if you can't deal with it you probably don't belong in ranked.

Look at it like this, for every time someone gives up on a winnable game, there's someone who's dragging out a game that his team has no chance of winning but he won't surrender. Just as it is unfair that one person ruin 4 others' time by AFKing, there's going to be someone who is going to ruin 4 others' time by not surrendering when the other team is up 15 kills.

Either way, as a player you need to be able to deal with the fact that random teammates will suck randomly.

Losing because of a lack of skill is one thing. That truly can't be helped, nor should it be helped by anyone other than the unskillful looking to better themselves. Malicious griefing is a completely different story. Intentionally throwing the game is deplorable and shouldn't be tolerated on any level

In a surrender vote, 4 people is enough to win the surrender vote, which means it's impossible for 1 person to drag it out by not surrendering.

I think there should be a reasonable expectation of competitiveness in Ranked queue. I go absolute tryhard in Ranked, and others should, too. That's literally the point of the queue.

The level of troll, AFKing and lack of care I experience in Ranked sometimes is nothing short of retarded.

I still say they should just Bring back the tribunal and let the community sort it out. I still have no Idea why Riot hasn't gotten back to that, when the clearly said it would make a return. And yet, no status update has been given in like forever.
